I am delighted to see it off the air. Blaine seems like a nice guy, but his low carb beliefs are just plain scientifically wrong. I have read about ten current books on nutrition and losing weight in the past few months, and every one of them says that eating animal products in excess causes cancer, diabetes, heart disease, etc. This guy is killing himself as quickly as he can. Showing him doing it is simply irresponsible television.

Best wishes to Blaine and his lovely family. I hope he learns about nutrition soon, before his poor children will not have a father. Low carb, high protien diets are deadly. The only diet that will improve anyone's health substantially is high in good carbs - fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and only very lean, small amounts of protein. Hundreds of studies say so.

And to the woman who posted earlier, your doctor must be a quack. Do you know that the average Dr. only gets 3 hours of nutrition education in college?

Best to all.

I watch and love this program. I've lost 53lbs in about 5 months. It's the only place that I've actually been able to find low carb food that is worth eating. I also wanted to see Blaine at his goal weight its motivation to keep going. Please reconcider this.

Sorry, but reading diet books or nutrition books is not enough. Most books include data from 2-4 years before publishing. The way to determine current information is to do a search on a special website like PubMed which searches only peer-reviewed (reviewed by experts in the field that the joural is about) articles.

Doctors even five years ago would have been very hesitant to recommend a high protein/ high-fat diet due to the assumption that the hhigh fat diet would lead to increased cardiovascular risk factors. But the truth is after many, many scientific studies checking the different types of cholesterol, sugars and insulin (for diabetes which is a heart attack equivalent--that is a person with diabetes has the same chance of having a heart attack as somebody else who does not have diabetes but HAS HAD a heart attack), and other risk factors such high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (CRP) there is no significant difference in the decrease (yes, I said decrease) of these levels in low-fat/protein versus high fat/protein diets. That is the measures of the bad cholesterols goes down and the measures of the good cholesterol (High-Density Lipoproin (HDL))go up with the loss of weight regardless of the type of diet which means you can use whatever diet you find easiest.

A couple of important points are that the higher the protein in the diet (regardless of which type), their is less desire for food after a meal AND WEIGHT LOSS ITSELF REGARDLESS OF DIET TYPE DECREASES RISK FACTORS OF CARDIOVASCULAR (HEART) DISEASE. Also, things like vitamin absorption and bone density have been found to not be more altered by the type of diet, either.

To read a great journal research study about this hit the link below:
http://www.ajcn.org/cgi/reprint/81/4/762?maxtoshow=&HIT...e&resourcetype=HWCIT

Try searching other articles about this area of interest by going to:
http://www.ajcn.org/cgi/search?andorexactfulltext=and&r...=&volume=&firstpage=

OR try PubMed at: (When you get there put "Diet, Carbohydrate-Restricted"[Majr]"
in the search for field-- without the quotes. And then hit "GO"
"Diet, Carbohydrate-Restricted"[Majr]

Good luck and I hope Blaines show continues because the major problem of all diets is the boredom factor/lack of variety and he has managed to help remove that problem.

I didnt know the show was going to be cancelled until i looked up this site. My family and I have been raked through the coals this summer and I have been needing a healthier lifestyle. Blaines show has shown my 9 year old and I that we can do this. Blaine is an inspiration to my daughter and me. I really do wish the show would continue so that my family and i could be encouraged by Blaines awesome success. Please reconsider!!!!!!

I love Blaine's recipes. I hope his show doesn't get cancelled.

In response to the person who thinks this is an unhealthy program -- my doctor was also skeptical until he waw me lose 75 pounds and get my blood pressure, cholestrol and sugar levels back into to where they needed to be. He now advocates a low-carb lifestyle and is chief cardologist at a local hospial. People who believe this is unhealthy, don't truly understand the program. Before making negative comments they should do all the homework.

Please don't cancel the show!!!! The person who posted that the show should discontinue due to dietary beliefs is entitled to believe what he/she wants, but that does not negate the fact that low-carb diets work and Blaine has been an inspiration to me with his recipes, his energy and his down-to-earth personality--IT IS THE ONLY REASON I WATCH FITTV.

WOW nice post.... are you a DR.? I agree with everthing you said and its nice to have someone here that has their facts in order.

For the people that bash the show\lifestyle I just ignore them... I do laugh when I hear some of the things they say but If I let if bother me then I am focusing to much on them instead of focusing on me and the lifestyle change I am making.

Anyways thanks for the post and the links and yes Pub Med is a great place that has supporting research for the lowcarb lifestyle but its a little hard to understand for the avrg Joe like me :-)

Please don't cancel Blaine's show. I am overwieght, high cholesterol, can't take any chol. lowering drugs, was told by 2 doctors that this type of lifestyle is the way to go. It is a great show and just about the only low carb show on TV...non on the Food Channel. If this show were advertised it would be very popular...I just chanced upon it. GIVE IT A CHANCE...advertise it and it will be a winner.

This show can't be cancelled! I love it so much. There is no show around that cooks for the low-carb lifestyle. This lifestyle is not a passing fad. What can be done to keep it on?

This is to address the response by NancyCronk about doctor's only getting about 3 hours of nutrition education in school.

Gosh - guess they can't learn anything outside of school, on their own, can they?! Any doctor worth his or her salt is constantly learning, reading journals and improving their level of education, understanding and expertise.

You must be reading the wrong books, because well-balanced diet will show that a lower level of carbs and sugars is healthier for you. Just check the food pyramid. Balance nutrition is the best, but if your downfall is carbs and sugar (like mine), there is nothing wrong with finding ways to still have good-tasting food that doesn't add to the waist line.

If you want to talk about irresponsible television, then let's move it out of the food shows and onto news, politics, etc. where it belongs.

Let's just watch the reruns, print out the recipes, couple them up with other recipes and all will be well...There are more than enough recipes here for us to use and DVR the shows. It's all good!
