This 1966 Ford Mustang started it's life as a hardtop/coupe, but is now a hardtop convertible! She sports a 408ci Winsor stroker producing an estimated 497hp @ 6000rpm and 500tq @ 5000rpm. That power is transfered to the ground via a Richmond aluminum 5-speed transmission, Ford Nodular 9" containing Mark Williams 35 spline axles and spool, and 17" Bullitt Mustang wheels.
The top of the car was precisely cut off using a cutting wheel and can be bolted back on using the four fabricated and welded mount points. The top is sealed using vintage style windlace and rubber weatherstrip.
Coupe-Vertible originally breathed from a 289ci motor. This motor was later modified to produce an estimated 447hp from 12.5:1 internals, 320 duration cam, and large valve heads. In the summer of 2004, the 289 was replaced by a 351W block stroked to 408ci using a balanced Scat stroker kit.
The interior has been gutted and paint replaces the carpet. The interior is modelled after the '05 Mustang GT-R and has Rhino-Lining in the floorpans to offset the yellow painted floor. A rollbar, racing seat, 5 point harness, and digital speedometer are some of the other interior features.
The suspension consists of a full polyurethane treatment. A 3/4" swaybar was added to the rear, as well as Shelby style underride traction devices to help plant the power. The body was lowered three inches in order to improve handling.
Future modifications include power rack and pinion, front coil-over suspension, and a supercharger for the 408.
