Our ride is from that lost generation of El Camino's built between 1973 and 1977. Running a GM 350 crate motor, rebuilt automatic 3 speed and complete rebuilt suspension running oversized SS sway bars front and rear.
The body was sanded to virtually the metal, rust cut from the usual locations and flanged replacement panels welded into place. The entire care was then blocked and sanded. Finally 4 layers of color with 3 coats of clear, all of which was color sanded.
I chose to go with the 'stock' ride hieght with a matched set of custom Boyd Coddington 10x17 rims at all four corners. The first time my wife saw the car put back together in the driveway she blurted out, "It looks like a hot rod!"
Mission accomplished.
