Under the Horse Power forum of topic "Question regarding value of horse" - you mention that your folks got you a $400K paso...and you're now asking if pasos can jump and wear (not where) english tack???

Umm. I think all horses can jump. The question is how well. And if you already own a Paso Fino for that purpose and are just now worrying about it's jumping ability and especially if you're ignorant enough to ask if one can wear English tack I think this horse is in for a very hard and sad life indeed.

Its sad you guys can't give her a worth while response; Yes Paso Finos can jump- their better with dressage, but with alot of work and dedication then yes, as for english tack, paso finos are known for their dressage and have actually been in the Olympics for some dressage teams. Any other questions? Smile

All horses can jump and all horses can wear english tack. Though some horses don't do as well with english tack. It's mostly about how they've been trained. If you put english tack on a horse that had been trained western, and ride in the saddle english, the horse may get confused and such. So you may want to train it some before riding english.

Pasos are very "gaity" and developing a proper cantering stride to a jump may be problematic in the long run. Considering the small stature of the Paso, your jump height would be limited. Can they jump? Sure....they can jump. Should they be used for jumping? No, not in my opinion. Paso's strong suit is gaiting, not jumping.
