You'll do better to write Animal Planet. When you take the time to write a note on paper and send it, it shows that you really care about what you are talking about. Sign in blue ink (it doesn't look like a photocopy). Tell them what you liked about the horse programming, and thank them for what they have done. Make sure your computer font is easy to read!
