my boyfriend works at a restaurant with a HUGE stray cat problem. about 6 months ago he found four stray kittens abandoned under a shed, of which we kept one (the others found homes as well). just a week ago he brought home another, this one extremely skinny with a 3 inch long slash on her neck/side. i took her to the vet and her wounds have healed and her bones no longer stick out. i am a huge cat lover and hate to see ones without good homes. however my county has done nothing about the abundant number of stray cats that live outside my boyfriend's workplace. i know it is hard to catch them because they are wild, but it breaks my heart than they may be hungry, sick, or cold in the winter. what could i do to get animal control to set traps to spay/neuter these animals or is this just unrealistic?
