I see from other people's posts that some became members just to post how they feel about Hildi. Well, I have done the same thing! I can recall only 3 or 4 of her designs that I really cared for at all. I remember the awful one she did where she put hay on this family's walls in their living room. I can't imagine how you would get that off! The latest faux pas is the recent show where she put some kind of cheap black plastic rings that cost .20 cents a piece all over this couple's bedroom walls. I would have been so mad and disappointed! My other "fave" is when she stapled fake flowers all over the bathroom walls. I have two comments to the producers/network about this: 1) This show is about what the homeowners want, which means the designers should not always think only of THEMSELVES and what weirdo things they want, but should design a space FOR the people who live there. 2) If you can't find decent designers, you should trot on over to Style channel's "Clean House" show and check out Mark Brunetz. I've never seen him do any design that I didn't like, or that wasn't classy, cool, up to date, AND exactly what the home owners wanted! You CAN do all those things in one design!........I think with the host (Paige), and the designers you have, the show is getting OLD.......I woke up at 5AM on a Saturday and couldn't sleep, and I started thinking about how I wanted to express my opinion on this show. It has been bothering me! I used to love this show, but it needs some help now!!!!!!!

Yes I like Hildi, she's an awesome person. Believe me I defend her all the time and frankly all this I don't like Hildi stuff is old.
It's already been done so get over it. There are people who like Hildi and defend her but all this not liking her is old news. Sorry...

Yes. I like Hildi. I think she's a great designer. A bit "out there" at times perhaps, but that's what makes the show fun! Personally, I'm even a fan of her more wild designs.

I remember when she used cardboard furniture in this one couples home; or the time she hung the plastic living room furniture to the ceiling.

Hildi is awful!!! The show is supposed to be about the homeowners; however, in Hildi's mind it is all about what she likes and wants period. The should get rid of her!!

I have friends that love her, but she's not my favorite.... Never has been but she is part of the deal if your going to watch the show.

It is funny because 99 percent of the time I don't care for her designes but as a person, I think she is really cool. Her personality is nice and she keeps the show hopping because you never know what she will do. Overall I enjoy her when she is on and i hope they keep her on the show. I would take her over goil any day

I cannot say I don't like Hildi, I do not know her. As to her design asthetic, impractical, controversial, no consideration for the homeonwer, would nopt want her anywhere near my home, good reason not to trade spaces etc.

I mean, why would you fill a damp bathroom with faux flowers that will just mold, or cover dining room walls with felt when they own two cats, let alone cover walls with cardboard which will encourage kids to write on it and will take impact badly.

Now, occasionally she does something within a room I like such as the use of aluminum foil on a ceiling but I honestly cannot think of a single whole room of hers I liked.

Overall, her behavor and attitude make it plain that very rarely do the traders actually have any say in what happens in the room for which they are responsible. In her case it seems that the designer is only in it for the chance to experiment and create something nobody really wants.

I like Hildi, I've net her. She's the sweetest person but yes she does take risks.

Well lets see...

1. She needs to consider the family when she does her designs. Putting hay on a wall when the family has children, or possible unknown allergies.

2. Fake cloth flowers in a bathroom (What was she thinking?)

Personally I stopped watching when both Page and
Tye left the show. But on the good side she doesn't bug me as much as Goil. Would someone please just tell him to stop laughing all the time.

I am sorry - she may be the nicest person on the planet, but da%% she does hideous things to a room.

This is one reason I would never be on TS, she and Doug. They frighten me.

I don't usually take the time to write messages about a TV show but I saw another espiode with Hildi as the designer. I can't believe that this show continues to keep her on. I will never forget the time she put daisy flowers all over the kitchen and how the home owner "cried" when she saw her kitchen. Today she remodel a bedroom and it looked awful, I believe that the lady was nice only because she felt she had to. The bedroom was just as awful as that kitchen. Why in the world do you keep her. Many of the other designers do wonderful work. Thanks for listening to me.

I'm sure her mommy is quite fond of her. As for me....uhhhmmm....NO. She does keep me watching just to see what she is going to do. Personally I think I would cry if she did my home or I had to work with her.

I was just thinking about the hay episode and came on to find out if anyone knows what happened after that show? Did the producers pay to get it fixed or did theyjust say leave it, they agreed to the show?

First of all, I ONLY joined here to complain about that freak of nature. That being said, I feel soooooooooooo sorry for the coutless people's rooms she has ruined. I would think that TLC would have more care for their viewers than to employ that idiot of a designer. My 5 year old nephew could design a better room than that garbage she does. Do any of you honestly think she would employ any of her garbage designs in her own house? NO! She wouldn't. It's just hard to believe that TLC pays her and lets her ruin homes and cause the owners to have to spend more money to redo what she has destroyed.

Hildi has no regard for the wishes of the participants. She has no ASID certification and is just a nobody that auditioned for the show. You would think that such negative results using her would get her kicked but they seem to enjoy the 'extreme' reactions that she gets. I would never go on the show because I could not stand if she was 'my chosen designer'. I have two years of design classes behind me and still realize that I don't feel qualified to 'design'.

You may have two yrs of 'Design School', but Hildi has been a designer on Trading Spaces for at least 6/8? yrs it's has been on.
You probably couldn't design a room with what the cast of Trading Spaces has always been given to work with. Not many could in my opinion. I aplaud the 'original designers' for having to work with all that they have had to put up with over the years.
Hildi is very educated, not many of the 'original designers' have that 2 yr design diploma or whatever, except maybe Laurie.
The orignal cast have always done beautiful work, even if their styles are very different from each other. Hildi has a great deal of creativity and talent, but has chosen to use'alternative wall treatments'.
She has ruined a some walls lately, but she can do very beautiful work. I have heard ,as it has been mentioned , she is a very nice person.
I do like Hildi, I just prefer paint on walls.

Very nicely said dawfan...THANK YOU so much for saying that nice and true stuff about Hildi and you said it just right. Hildi is great and creative and makes people think...(if they stop screaming first) She is very nice too.

Not being one to really judge people, I have watched Trading Spaces for years. My daughter and I love this show. All of the designers have different ideas and taste in what they think is great. Every one has different taste in what they want in their homes. I am sure that Hildi is a very nice person but being a nice person does not make someone good at there job. If I spent a thousand dollars to have a room redone I would be mortified to come home and see flowers, hay, felt, sunflower seed packages or even card board all over my room. I have seen more people cry or be angry at her work than people that were really happy. I think I need a job at Trading Spaces. This is the only place I can think of that you are allowed to keep your job for messing up and making people unhappy. You business is only as strong as your customers. Your customers are very ubhappy with Hildi.

not a soul that i know or have talked to. we all boycott the show whenever she's on it. we just change the channel to another design show. she's awful. she's all about hildi. does anyone remember the time she had those poor soccer players polkadotting a huge picture of herself on the wall? and all those fake flowers? or the cardboard box? she would never do any of that in her own home nor would she do it for a paying client, not if she ever wanted to get paid. but i no longer let her annoy me, i simply change the channel. but i also have to say some homeowner just needs to refuse to do her dirty work. if the homeowners won't do the work then what is she gonna do?
