Like a previous reply - I too change the channel when Hildi is on. Do the TLC people really think this is good tv - that a little contraversy is great - that getting the viewers all stirred up is good for the ratings. It just makes me plain MAD - if I was a homeowner of a Hildi room, I would sue! She does thousands of dollars in damage. 3000 nails, 2000 staples = will break down the drywall and need to be replaced...thousands of $$$, Gluing on feathers, lint, hay - and then scraping it off will damage the paper seal...thousands of $$$. Does TLC think it is cute to see what she'll pull (notice I didn't say "decorate"). There is too much good design out there on other channels that I don't have to watch this self centered person. The only awesome thing she does is paint a room in heels.

We change the channel every time Hildi is on. Never would that woman step foot on my property after watching her have people liquid nails cardboard on the walls and ceiling of their friends home. The friends even expressed their displeasure "can't we use staples just in case they don't like it?" Isn't is supposed to be something you feel good about doing for your friends, not doing to them? I'd like to know what school of "design" (used loosely) hildi went to. She seems to be there more for fuel for the hate hildi fire than anything else. Long Live VERN! Bring him back

To all those who said they turn the channel if Hildi is on Trading Spaces - have you told TLC this? Contact them and let them know your feelings and your reactions to Hildi. A gazillion people cannot all be wrong.

I too am appalled at how she destroys peoples homes on the show. Notice the key word being destroy. I would be devastated if I found out that she was over in my home. Where in the world did she get her training?

You know, I watched the feather show with her today, and she said her house is all white. No wallpaper, no colored paint. I can't believe that she does all those terrible things when at home she doesn't have a red wall!

hire a designer with your own money if you want them to do only what you want, this is a tv show with ratings and everything that goes with it. as long as people are talking it brings attention to the show, so why in the world would they ever get rid of Hildi?! i think she's got guts, she is incredibly knowledgable about design and I think a lot of what she tries to do goes over the heads of people who have no background in interior design/architecture or art. without Hildi what would people have to chat about online, the pretty roosters in the kitchen Frank did? (no offense to Frank, love his work)

People love to hate her. She's like the evil character on a soap opera. When I told my sister we were doing the show (episode 11 Brother vs. Sister, I'm the Brother's partner) my sister said "Oh, I hope you don't get Hildi" and so did about 5 other people, who are regular viewers. I don't watch regularly and didn't know Hildi, but I did see the episode a while back with the feathers on the wall, and knew I didn't want that. So with all this talk of Hildi...the producers would be crazy to get rid of her. I lucked out on my room...apparently. Sorry for those who got the feathers. But hate her or not, she's good TV.

Begging to disagree here but it does not take guts to put cardboard tube halves on the wall. Neither for the likes of flowers, feathers, records, wine labels, seed packets, straw, a few pieces of furniture on the ceiling or cardboard furniture in the bedroom. That's not imagination at work and that's not an incredible possession of knowledge of art and architecture [assuming one has it] being put to good use. That's bunk. Hildi's designs, for the most part as she sometimes does do great work, remind me of the type of designing one does when they get their first very own place. I remember that feeling. You got that extra $20 burning a hole in your pocket and you spend every dime of it and then swell with pride thinking noone else could make $20 stretch farther or better than you did.

I think Hildi really pushes the envelope and knows the reaction she may get, but will defend it to the end. That is just her personality. But the thing that makes her non-likeable is the fact that she actually gets MAD at the home owners if they balk her idea and makes smart aleck remarks to them. One time the lady ewas looking foir her TV in her bedroom and Paigesaid, "well Hildi doesn't believe in TV's in bedrooms, so she took it out." That made me upset a little. Who the heck is she to take that task to hand. That is what the homeowner had and wanted and just because Hildi didn't like it she took it out. Shame, shame on her. She is definittely NOT a people person.

I hate Hildi too. She is just plain rude. Who do we contact at TLC? I think that everyone who doesn't like her, should contact TLC and complain. Like another poster said, all of these people can't be wrong! Let's do something about this!

Hildi is a disgrace to designers everywhere. She is NOT good for ratings because I know I turn off the tv if she is one of the designers. I do not think she "defends her beliefs to the end". I think she is a stubborn, oppinionated, sad person who probably gets excommunicated from social events and instead of crying herself to sleep, she claims to be empowered and "right". She is a pathetic woman and I for one would never let her step foot in my home. She should not be allowed to destroy people's homes the way she does. If anyone could give me information on how to contact TLC and voice my opinion, I'd be happy to.

I'm watching "Surprise By Design" on Discovery Home and the male co-host, Verdi, just said something really funny and I quote: "I'm not Hildie!" LMAO

You see, he was trying to do a kitchen wall and he was putting up colored paper on it, but it didn't turn out the way he wanted it to and he just HAD to take that shot at Hildie! I almost fell off of the couch, I was laughing so hard.

See TLC? Other designers are even taking shots at her now. What does THAT tell you about her abilities?

I like Hildi a lot. She's creative and she tries to do a room that's inventing and one of a kind. She's created some great rooms, and I would rather have her design a room for me than Doug and Frank. I wonder if the animosity towards her is because she's a woman. Doug is the same way, and there's a lot less mean-spirited criticism towards him.

Who do I call to support her? When I see that she's going to be on, I make sure to watch

It doesn't even really have to do with "if I like her or not" her designs SUCK!!! I don't know anyone who would pay her to do to their homes! Those poor homeowners on the show --geesh. I think she purposely does ugly rooms because she is afraid of people criticizing her true design ideas (if she has any). I would love to see TLC get over their lust for ratings whether they are negative or not and replace her with a real designer who gives a fig about the home owners! But that is just my opinion

No one I know! Come on TLC play nice and forget ratings for a minute and think about those poor home owners. I think she is running out of stuff to put on the walls anyways so Please give us a real designer who cares about the homeowners and not just about getting attention! Thanks TLC

cmleidi-I don't think it has ANYTHING to do with her being a woman so please do not play the sexist card. Lori and Genevive design beautiful rooms that are also one of a kind without destroying peoples walls. Doug has his stubborn moments too, but at least his rooms are appealing! Sorry, but I have to strongly disagree. It really has nothing to do with her being a woman, lol! She just isn't as talented as the other designers.

I wonder how the sponsors would feel if they knew so many of us change channels when Hildi is on? Do the producers of TS realize that Hildi is turning away advertising opportunities?

Don't kid yourself. The sponsors love Hildi because she is the Trading Spaces Wildcard, and one of the reasons people watch. People on this board who claim to change channels seem to be pretty knowlegable about what happens to a Hildi designed room. It's the ratings that count, and the people on this board not watching does'nt amount to a hill of beans.

I agree wraith, these people do not seem to understand that they are the ones actually keeping her on the show, the publicity sh gets on this forum is wonderful for the show, whether it is good or bad it is still publicity
