I became a menber of this site just so I could say what a horible designer Hildie is. When she is on I turn it off. Fake flower wallpaper in a bathroom that cannot be cleaned or get wet with thousands of staples in the wall, black kitchen cabinetts in a kitchen when the owners thought their light wood was too dark, and furniture attached to the cieling because she could not come up with a decent idea. What has to happen to get rid of her. I was glad to see so many other people agree with what I have to say. Of course I know that no opne pays attention to this stuff but I had to give it a try.

I can tell you this.. our show will be airing this Friday May 11th at 8pm. The kitchen Radical. I am one of the homeowners who specifically said in the interview I didn't want Hildie in my house because I did not like her designs... So of course for ratings sake she came to my house... I thought it would be bad, but I can tell you with the budget used, she designed one of the most beautiful floor plans I've ever seen and I was fortunate enough that it was my house. I'm 28 years old and we can barely match our clothes let alone put the right colors to a house. My buddies almost kicked her out with some of her ideas, and she said to just trust her.. First of all it is about ratings, I would be honored to have an artist (Hildie) come to my home, Plus end up with a design from her. When you sign on for this show, I am sure they let you know that this is a game, and a gamble.

I also became a member of this board just to say how awful Hildie is. Sarron8, you took the words roght out of my mouth. I too saw the kitchen redo where she painted the cabinets black when the homeowners requested a BRIGHT kitchen. She is the worst and I will not watch the show anymore when she is involved.

Well , alot of the designs that I have seen Hildie do , I am very surprised that the homeowner did not kick her butt and sue the pants off of whoever hired that idiot .

The ironic thing about Hilde is that she can actually 'do' good designs, unfortunately she thinks that the more wacky and trendy it is, the better. Too bad. I wouldn't want her in my home either.

The only reason I joined this discussion site was to say how horrible a designer Hilde is. Everytime I watch her I think she cannot possible design anything worse than the last show, but surprise - she does! The one I am watching now has the body painted canvas for the kitchen. Is she out of her mind? Even the owners didnt like it, by the end of the show they had taken it down. Get rid of talentless Hilde!

Hildi is the absolute worst designer this show has. She DOES NOT LISTEN, SHE DOES NOT CARE. Hideous Hildie cannot design a beautiful FUNCTIONING room. She does the opposite of what the homeowner wants and needs. If Hildie is so great, why doesn't she have her own show by now. At
To the producers - PLEASE FIRE HILDIE. She cannot design, she is rude, nasty and absolutely does not care about the home owner. Only herself. When she is on, I too turn it off. I really feel bad for everyone that does get her. If the producers can't control her then they should get rid of her. How are the homeowners to pay for her damages that she creates. I bet most of the people who sign up do not have the money to fix her damages.
You want better ratings, have your designers take after Vern, Frank, Lauri, Genevieve, or Ty. They rock!

I am amazed that one human being could come up with such horrible designs. I also have a problem with even using the word design in most of the things that Hildie has done. She seems to thrive on conflict & in disappointing the homeowner!!! When I don't think it could get much worse, she tops herself! Placing silk flowers all over a bathroom, wine labels for wallpaper in kitchen & in home of non-drinkers,using wrapping paper for wallpaper, & the list goes on and on. Come on, guys!!!What's the deal???TLC & Trading Spaces has severely compromised their reputations for shock value ratings??!!! In her defense, I have seen no more than 5 of her makeovers that were decent & 1 that was absolutely beautiful, but that family happened to be one of Frank's friend's home. Kia is another one!!Her designs are all African American & tacky tacky tacky..There is no excuse for having a designer with poor taste on any decorating show. You are not that hard up for interior designers are you??? Help us to understand....PLEASE!!!!

All of the designers try to make the room more functional and different from what it was and I like Hilde, I would love to have her at m y house. Other designers do crazy stuff like Genevieve and the moss on the bedroom wall, and what about that mess on last nights [10/20/07]
on the brick wall, remember Doug and don't touch the fireplace and he made the lady cry and that room looked awesome! They are designers, they have a creative flow that not everyone has, its interesting to see how they get great rooms done on $1000-$2000. Hilde does a great job and it is always interesting to see what she does.

As you can tell by my user name, I think TLC should fire Hilde, also. I became a member of this website for one reason only - to vent my anger against this DECORATOR. Hilde does not hold a degree in interior design - she has had no formal training. I have watched every show that Trading Spaces has made (love my TIVO), until about 2 years ago when I could no longer stand to watch Hilde. Obviously, the show is hurting for ratings. Why can't they attract decent designers for this show!!!!!

After reading so many of the compaints about Trading Spaces programing and especially those about Hildi, all I can say is the Execs do not really care what viewers and homeowners think or want.

Like everthing else on TV it is all about "Shock Value." Here is a novel thought for you - get your so called designers into a competition as to who can actually produce a great space. A improved space that someone actually wants in their home!!!

I love this show so much, but I cringe when I see the poor homeowner having Hilde as a designer. Her designs are horrible. I can honestly say I have not seen anything she has done that I like. I am a floral and interior designer and I really feel for those poor people. Why do you keep her. There are so few people that like the rooms that she does for them. The rest of the designers are great and create beautiful rooms. Her's are crap.
