A couple of years ago, Laurie did an ultra easy faux tortoise finish on top of a coffee table. Does anyone remember the how to? Or can anyone here tell me how I can send Laurie and email to find out?

Once upon a time (before the redid the site) the directions were posted here. There are probably some of the old tymers on the "non-official" TS fansite who have those instructions, but they have been removed from here.

If it helps, here are some directions on a similar process that Carol Duvall has on her website. Since they come with step-by-step photos, it may be more helpful anyway.

it came out great, but the dust from the desert here (yes, So Cal does have sandy places too!) is somewhat a challenge when applying the varnish.. you need good ventilation as they say.
