It depends on the situation.

Chances are you won't have time to decide ... because if you have to take time to think about it you're already dead.

It's important to always try to have a way out. If you're keeping your eyes moving and leave your self an out, you can avoid "most" crashes. Weather it be a bike or a car. If your out there hot dogging it, your gonna eat it. (no pun intended) As long as you're keeping a proper distance between you and the guy in front of you, slowing down and looking both ways before going through intersections and watching for people who may not see you in their blind spots, you can avoid most crashes. With that in mind, there are the unfortunate times when either a drunk driver or someone who doesn't see you in their blind spot and changes lanes to quickly. But if your lucky, you can even avoid situations like that by always looking for a way out. But your right. You can't know what is around every corner. I once was ridding my Triumph down a small street when a big dog bolted out in front of me and I had to lay it down. Broke a bunch of bones in my foot because I couldn't pull my leg out from under the bike fast enough and my foot was crushed under the crankcase... Was no out. Just a doctor bill...
