In many movies when there is an explosion, people go flying but they never get burnt...is it really possible to ride on the wave of an explosion and not get charred to a crisp??

Hiya Mythbusters, I recently saw the 1979 film In-Laws and there was a scene where an armoured delivers truck was picked up by a crane with an electric magnet from the road and raised over a fence into a junkyard where it was robbed. Its pretty cool and id love to see you try it.

How odd. I just watched that movie this weekend, and my wife asked the very same question of me.
One of my favorite films, BTW.

I was watching the movie sidekick starring Chuck Norris, in a scene a woman was tied up to some gun powder and bad guys were lighting line og gunpowder to the barrels, all of a sudden chuck norris comes out and starts shooting the ground (grassy/soily) and he hits the gunpowder line and it just lights out

what would happen if you were to take a metal container of some sort, pack it with gun powder and compress it as much as you can, then fire it from a catapault onto a concrete surface. would it explodeor simply bounce if htere was no charge to ignite the powder would pressure and stress alone spark it.

O.K., in the movie Twister, starring Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton, filmed in 1996, a number of stunts are done with a 1995 red Dodge Ram 1500 truck. I know only one of these stunts was actually done, but I don't know if it was a little "movie magic", or what. Ok, Here's the three Twister Myths: 1.they're driving the truck across a mud divider between two very small lakes, or very large ponds, with one water twister on both sides. One of them splits into two, and they head towards the road. Seeing he has no chance of getting through, Bill slams the brakes, and turns the truck towards the twisters as it slides so that it doesn't get flipped. Both twisters, about 35ft across, then begin to circle the truck, spinning it around in the mud (If you start the movie, the scene times are listed in order; 42:46, 1:29:31, and 1:35:10. ) After a few times around, both twisters dissipate, along with the third one. The truck slides to a stop, facing the way it had come. The truck is so untouched, that even the winsheild wipers are still beating in harmony! 2. After getting stuck on a tree, and then slammed off by a tossed 18 wheeler, both Bill and Joe speed off away from the twister to find the 15,000 pound gasoline taker become an airborne bomb, detonating when it hits the ground. Again, with nowhere to go, they have no choice but to drive through it. Wouldn't this melt the tires, boil your coolant, or blow your gas tank? 3. Bill and Joe are traveling down the 2lane highway when a house that has been ripped clean off the foundation rolls to a stop in the middle of the road, landing on it's side. Unable to avoid it, Bill yells "I think we're going iiiiinnnnn!!!" And he and Joe continue through the house, and out the other side, with out a scratch. They enter and exit through windows, which is very important!!!! If you test this myth, make sure they go through windows and door frames like they did in the movie to test this myth at it's best. I realize this is very long, but I tend to not be sure what to believe when I see a myth tested without all the information, or without realistic situations. Thanks Guys! MYTHBUSTERS ROCKS!!

Chuck Norris can do ANYTHING, he can defy the laws of gravity.. but really, the Mythbusters have already done such a stunt on their show.. quote: Originally posted by shady234: I was watching the movie sidekick starring Chuck Norris, in a scene a woman was tied up to some gun powder and bad guys were lighting line og gunpowder to the barrels, all of a sudden chuck norris comes out and starts shooting the ground (grassy/soily) and he hits the gunpowder line and it just lights out

At climax of the movie "Shoot'em Up" the main character manages to shoot the villain by holding bullets in between his figers and sticks his hand in a fireplace. I want to know if a fire place would get the bullets hot enough to fire and if they would be acurate enough to score a fatal hit.

In the Bourne Supremecy, Jason blows up an apartment by putting a magazine into a toaster and turning it on, and then unhooking the apartment's natural gas line. Within a few seconds the burning paper & gas produce a large explosion. It would be cool to test if this could really be done like in the movie.

This would make an interesting test for the Mythbusters, but I would be willing to bet that you cannot drive a vehicle all the way through a house - in several car accidents I've seen over the years in the news, people (mostly drunk drivers who've fallen asleep at the wheel) have struck houses at high speed (over 30 mph) and have not even managed to make it through more than one room of a home - I think the wood structure of a house (2 x 4's, 4 x 6's) would be more than strong enough to prevent a vehicle from making it all the way through a house, even at very high speeds - say, over 100 mph. I think this one might be busted before you could try it.

Hello. This is the first time I have posted here, but I hope that Jamie, Adam and co. like the idea enough to test it.
In quite a few movies and television programs over the years there have been scenes where a body (living or dead) falls from the top of a building (usually quite a tall one). The thing I am curious about is whether the trajectory of the falling body- usually stepping or pushed off- is sufficient to let it land, almost without fail, onto the top of a car or other vehicle parked at the kerbside...the whole width of the sidewalk away from the side of the building (and this can be quite a distance in some cities).
