In a lot of movies/TV shows (NCIS), we see police break into a house with one kick to a locked door. Is this really possible?

Yes -- I have even kicked a door in before. All you have to do is hit just right and you can break the door frame.

Don't do it too much, though. You just might develop an addiction

They tested this. As I recall Adam took a run up and managed to miss the door - but not the floor.
Jamie, however, had little difficulty kicking the door down...any one surprised at that?

I would have to admit, though it was not exactly like they do in the movies -- I "mule kicked" (turned around and kicked it from behind). We had gotten a call from the neighbors daughter, saying she could not reach her mother, and for us to check in on her. She was the "frightful type" so she had a steal front door. However, the garage was unlocked, and we went in through the kitchen door. She was okay, but we put in a LifeLine a few days later, just in case.

NORMALLY, you can't kick in a door with a single regular kick. however, you may be able to break it with a strong flying kick, because all of your inertia is concentrated in your foot.
