In the movie Shoot-Em-Up, with Clive Owen, he saves the life of the child by shooting a merry go round to change the speed of the merry-go-round so the bad guy can't shoot the child. Is it possible to change the speed of a merry go round either by shooting it or any other means?

My brother and I were having this exact same discussion and think this would be GREAT for the mythbusters to test. I dont think it would it work.... and definitely not the part where the baby flies UP into the main characters arms. But my brother and I are mainly disagreeing on the part about gun fire affecting the merry go round.

Wow, i've been thinking this would be an excellent, yet simple myth to test for ages now, and i decided to finally come here to suggest it and there's already a thread about it! To be more specific, there is a baby lying on a carousel (like this one here http://www.genrecookshop.com/f...layground10_08b.jpg, and the bad guy is sitting in his car with a sniper rifle aiming to shoot the baby. Clive owen see's this and begins shooting the carousel on steel bars making it spin around, thus making the task of shooting the child very difficult. He shoots the carousel approximately 3 or 4 times with a handgun and the carousel begins to spin faster and faster. Here is a youtube link to the scene. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZUX1Ew4CRE
