I am looking to find out what the opening theme music is for the U.S. version of Planet Earth. It is that song that starts out with a choral note or two, and then some strings come in and it's just marvelous. Now I have found out that the score for the show is composed by George Fenton, and i know the English opening theme and the commercial advertisement uses a song by Sigur Rós called Hoppipolla on an album called Takk, but that's not it. I even emailed Discovery and they haven't been able to help. Does anyone know who composed this choral opening theme music and/or how I can get it? please email me at sabeque@nyc.rr.com or respond back. thanks so much!

I just scoured the web to find the same answer. In fact, that's how I wound up reading your post. I hoped someone had responded to you so I'd get an answer to but when I saw no on had, I decided to try my favorite source for finding out who did specific film trailer music. Lo and behold... there was the answer!!! It is: "The Time Has Come" by Gabriel Shadid and Tobias Marberger. Together they are known as Epic Score. I'm going to keep my eyes on these guys. Here's their website: http://www.epicscore.com/ Not much there since it's "coming soon" but as soon as you hear their intro on that site, you'll probably know it's the same dudes.

Hi.
Thanks for the nice comments about the music on the Planet Earth theme. Several people have sent nice emails wondering if they can buy the music. Our distributor has recently decided to sell the track on iTunes. If anyone is interested in it, it's available there now. Searching my name (Gabriel Shadid) at the iTunes Music Store locates it.
My favorite moment is the great white shark propelling itself several feet out of the water----that is simply jaw dropping footage. The amount of work those camera teams did is staggering.
Cheers. -gabe shadid
