I am very disappointed. Here I noticed that Carter was also now on HGTV, so, I figured Trading Spaces is just going to go away....?? BUMMER!! Why cant they tell us what is up? Seems a shame to just keep seeing the TS celebs on HGTV. DOnt get me wrong, I love HGTV....and most of the shows....but, I have been a fan of TS since its inception.....but, just like when Paige disappeared....just happened. Is this the end of these types of shows on TLC>>?
Thanks for any replies...I appreciate someone elses opinion...

Why can't they tell us what's up indeed Kelli. I agree. TS was not like any other show in that fans were actually participants. Instant name recognition and notoriety came to the designers and carpenters in large part due to the participants and fans of the show. Not to take anything away from them, but I don't think any of them could deny that their careers weren't propelled somewhat by Trading Spaces and the fame it afforded them. TLC let this show die without letting us attend the funeral.

As each designer and carpenter did their last show, TLC could have let them say their final good-byes thanking the crew, the fans and all the homeowners they worked with over the years...no big special needed. It would have been so easy and so simple to let them all say their piece as they filmed their last show. Golly gee, think of how many peoplw would have tuned in to see their favorite designer for the last time. Sounds like a fond farewell ratings coup to me!

A perfect description of how I feel. Smile And yes, your "goodbye" idea is better than what TLC did.

ConfusedI am so with the rest of you. I turned the TV to TLC as I do every Saturday nite just to see The Real Deal take its place. What is up with that? Come on you guys, let us in on the scoop? Is Trading Spaces off the air or not. You know I am talking about new episodes and not the constant reruns. I think a farewell at least 2-3 hour special showcasing all the designers and some of their best as well as their worst rooms. I am still holding out hope that they (the designers) will be back. Change the name of the show or something. I am very disappointed in alot of the programming on TLC now. Are there really more viewers watching people get tattooed or what? All I can say is that was once again a bad business decision.......

I agree with everyone here. I came here to find out what was up. I guess our tradition of TRL on Saturday night has been changed to HGTV. I can't believe that they have done away with or dramatically change Trading Spaces...really what is life without Frank.... Sadness.

I just joined to find out if TS was cancelled. I guess y'all don't know either. The other day I realized that all the WYWO team were showing up on HGTV. I was blown away to find Evan Farmer on Freestyle. I too liked Paige, but she went on with her career.

Jason Cameron's got a show now, too, called "Desperate Landscapes". He's lost some of those super-bulked up muscles, looks more "mainstream" now, less body-builder. I think it was on HGTV. Also, Chayse Dakota's got one on HGTV called "Get It Together".

Anyone know whatever happened to Stephen St. Ange from WYWO?

How many more people will it take for a network to let us in on what is happening. The way to grow your customer loyalty and base is by sharing information. So where is it? You finally made great changes by showing us 2 weeks later what happens, adding a carpenter for each household and actually letting the teams and homeowners have some input into what can amount to life changing moves.

Its not resting in peace. They're filming new episodes now. Frank just filmed an episode last week. No word on when the new episodes will air though. You know TLC. Secrets! Secrets! Secrets!

I've read a couple of articles online from various newspapers in different states asking for people to apply to be on the show. Also, someone here (I forget who) mentioned they were going to film in Texas because they were going to be on the show.

The Frank filming info came from someone on this board who already appeared on the show, and knows some of the staff.

I don't know how many old designers are going to be filming, but it sounds like it might be a mix of old TS designers and some other TLC designers from other, now defunct, TLC shows.

I'll admit to being pretty surprised when I heard it was Frank filming, and that another TLC designer (not from Trading Spaces) had been asked to do the show. All this time I thought they were filming new episodes around the country with all new people. I have no idea what happened to "the young hip designers." I guess I'll have to start stalking again....I'm still determined to meet Gen!

LOL! Sounds like there is still hope of that happening!

Part of me wants to rant about all the false and misleading information but the other part just can't wait to see Frank at work again. Trading Spaces...can't live with em', can't live without em'. Wink

Trading Spaces filmed in Austin, TX on May 14. Here's a behind the scenes video of the NEW HOST, Julie Alexandria, recording introductions.

Quote from the video....

Total strangers switching rooms? WHAT, it wasn't scary enough switching with friends, family and neighbors? LOL!

They need to rename the network. Maybe from TLC (the learning channel) to WWW (wild, weird and wacky). Don't know about anyone else, but I don't have 8 kids to raise, I'm not a little person, I don't do tatoos, rebuild or pimp out bikes, etc. I don't intend to be insensitive but these shows are not my idea of entertainment.

Pinetree - you can still meet Genevieve! Just find out where she is filming her new HGTV show, Dear Genevieve. I really like it. Allows her to explain the thinking behind design decisions. Good luck!

Paige Davis was on our local NBC affiliate in Hartford, CT thi smorning ( Fri. Feb 6, 2009 ) and made the official announcment that the show is cancelled, and will not return. But she assured everyone that we will be able to watch reruns for years to come.
