Never have I been so appalled at the lack of respect and consideration Hildi showed in this episode. For an individual with no formal design training, she has a lot of nerve. I had to turn off the episode, as her rude, self-righteous behavior was too much.

I stopped watching not because Paige was gone but because it was too painful to watch homeowners betrayed by the show they welcomed into their home by keeping on unconsiderate designers. A designers goal is to please their customer and give them what they want. As long as I see that Hildi is on an episode I won't watcth. Stop watching whwenever Hildi is on.

You guys should have watched the show. The homeowners LOVED Hildi's room. I know her ideas tend to be out there, but let's give credit where it's due.

I am in the Navy, I have NEVER liked Hildi. I can't believe how badly she treated these people this week! Talking about it's her design?!?! It's their house! Who the heck hires people to design their house w/o their input? Hildi needs to go! Wooden paneling?!?! Good grief!

I don't know, maybe she makes for higher watched ratings and that is why they keep her around, but I know that there are many designers out there that can keep it entertaining w/o the "fear factor".

Hildi needs to go!

Hildi needs to stop acting like a spoiled rotten ranting two year old who stomps and rants when she may not get her way. I liked her room at the end, and had she acted more like an adult in the past, and also last night rather than become a ranting spoiled child I would have liked it more. If she would have ask the homeowners to "please" wait until the room was done and see the total package, rather than become the "wicked Witch of the West" maybe people would not be so terrified when they think Hildi is going to be doing their rooms. Obviously everyone in Hildi's life allows, or has allowed her to get her way and give into her whenever she becomes demanding !!!

Um Desdemona, Hildi doesn't have any children I don't know where you got your information but she has no kids.

Yes, Hildi, or Hildigard as I like to call her, was completely indignant to the homeowner's wishes. I will say that in the end, I liked the room and was glad to see her design a room I actually liked because it's been years since that has happened. But regardless of the happy ending, should just quit and go jetting off to paris or whereever they live half the time.

I have to agree, she has always been a major disappointment on the show. she thinks nothing of causing major damage to peoples houses, i.e. the moss on the walls, etc.

Get rid of her or be prepared to lose more viewers

I thought the couple teamed with Hildi were extremely disrespectful, rude and a pain in the backside. I was hoping Hildi would knock them upside the head. They disagreed with everything simply because it was Hildi. They had an attitude from the beginning and I found them completely hateful. Nothing that Hildi suggested was off the wall and the archway should have been covered. It would have looked awful if it had not been panelled over, but they had a bee in their bonnet so they had to be belligerent. Hildi could have come up with the most beautiful room and they still would have fought her on it. I was glad to see Hildi stand up to being bullied by two malcontents.

If you remember... in the beginning of TS's the homeowners never had any say with regard to the designers designs. They pretty much took orders and went with it. That I think, was one of the "rules" for doing the show. And for the most part people were probably all to happy to oblige the designers thinking they were going to get a beautifully designed room in exchange. Hildi messed all that up. She robbed the homeowners of their blind trust and then smacked them upside their heads with it. I too agreed with Hildi on the arch debate. She was dead right. But tis' her own fault she gets so much flack from the homeowners. She has taught them over and over to fear her then pretends to be shocked when they fail to see the magnificence of her design. You reap what you sow.

I totally agree with all these comments. I also stopped watching not because of Paige but because of Hildi. I use to love watching the show but stopped when I saw how Hildi totally destroyed peoples homes. I feel that if they do not get rid of her soon the show will be gone altogether. She has no consideration for others.

Hildi is getting tasteless in her designs and intolerable in her ego-tude. I can't bear to watch her anymore. It's a pity that such an entertaining and informative show suffers from bad casting with Hildi.

Some years ago, I stopped watching for a while because of Hildi, and after the number of rooms she wrecked this season, when I saw the she was on last Saturday's episode, YET AGAIN,I switched the channel. She has been on almost every episode this season! She is going to kill the show.

I can stay silent no more! Seriously people, the facts are:
1) Hildi is there to stay - I mean she stirs the pot, tows the fine line of design. Producers would be nuts to kick her off the show
2) These Homeowners DON'T hire anyone, they likely wait for hours in line or apply several times before they are accepted. And then have their houses decorated for virtually nothing ( ya ya, I know that tax is charged for services or whatever) But it's a mere fraction of what it would cost if you hired private contractors. You want builders beige, then do it yourself.
3) Viewers don't want to see taupe, they want to see innovative creative spaces.
4) Good Interior designers have a vision and know how to execute the task at hand. They see the picture - that couple on last weeks episode had no vision and I thought were rather rude.
The fact is these homeowners know exactly what they're in for when they sign up for the show. If they prefer builders beige on the walls, then don't go on show. It's simple. Now get a life people and stop picking on Hildi.

She states her home is in France, but does she ever spend time there? All she talks about is the traveling she does when not working on TS. When does she ever see her husband? Child or no child - I stick to my assessment of Hildi's personality, There are other ways, to get your point across and get your way with out doing what Hildi does. You can be firm and stand your ground, without acting like a child.

I remember an interview with her and Paige asked her if she had this type of stuff in her house. (it might have been the infamous cardboard room). She told Paige that every room in her house is white. WHITE ????? I think she is a hypocrite, talking about needing color, etc. and she does not even have any of this on her walls. I am assuming that she uses Trading Spaces for testing things

My question for Elmo is this.. Seriously is he out of his mind? I am a homeowner on the show and we did not stand in line for hours to be on the show. (This isnt American Idol )
Elmo, you are a prime example of a person who doesnt know the facts but shouts to the rooftops that you are right. GUESS WHAT???? you're not so sit down. Our show could have fallen apart on several occassions but the producers kept it together. Finally, we didnt know what we were getting into and that you can blame on us.

Sorry Bill, you are the one who is wrong. You might not have gone through the same process as others, however, other homeowners have auditioned to Trading Spaces in the way that ELMO has posted. Sorry it was a bitter experience for you (it appears we all get to relive it next week), but there is no need for name calling.

I totally totally agree!!! Until she improves her listening and diva-toning-down skills, Hildi should not be in the show. She may have her own concept of creativity that some people who only have a $1000 space makeover budget can appreciate, but she definitely does not qualify to be in a show where the homeowners are encouraged to give input on how they think their trading partners would and could appreciate.

I have been watching passively for several past episodes where Hildi did not entertain input from her teammates. There was not much at stake other than perhaps a few weekends to undo the makeover if the homeowner does not like her design. However, for tonight's episode, someone's career development was at stake. And, Hildi did not care a bit!!!!

Hildi, when somebody says that she wants an elegant bedroom like a hotel that she can escape to (with little reminder of work), that definitely does not mean cardboard walls and whatever else that you thought was creative but was not. Did you even wonder why elegant hotels (if you've ever stayed in one) don't adopt such designs?

Seriously, you should just teach crafting classes.

I began watching TS on Discovery Home; these are old episodes which I have now seen 4 or 5 times (well, they have been repeated that many times in 18 months!) I have cringed at the hideous Hildi disasters, and could not believe they brought her back. Her blatant disregard of people's wishes, i.e. the wine-label kitchen for teetotalers, and fur for a anti-fur person,
is just disgusting. Paige keeps trying to make the rooms seem exciting and risk-taking, when they are just ludicrous, cheap, tasteless, and
a mockery of interior design.
Why does TS continue the charade of asking the traders what they had in mind for the room, when everything has been planned with no regard for the homeowners???

I stopped watching Trading Spaces since the new format began. I liked it better without Paige. And i Sure won't watch Hildi. It seems like she is always on. I just don't like the new format at all. So by not watching the show any more is my way of Protesting that no talent decorator, Hildi. So no more Trading spaces for me.

I think most people agree that Hildi needs to go. I just don't like the way the show flows when she's involved.

For the sake of keeping America beautiful- someone needs to cancel her passport and keep her out of the U. S. - Paris needs her more than we do. Her designs? are disgusting.

Hildi is originally from Raleigh, NC. I'm pretty sure she doesn't need a passport to get into the USA. Big Grin

I can't believe there is so much dislike for Hildi and her designs. Doesn't anyone remember that she HAS done some very beautiful rooms over all these years? I think it's great that she steps out of the box on some of her designs. And again......if you don't want a Hildi room, then don't go on the show. Smile

It's been a while since I've posted because I stopped watching Trading Spaces when they started adding too many new designers. Since they have returned to the old format I have been tuning in again. I also wanted to see Hildi. Her work is clearly very offensive to the majotiry of posters as it was to me the first time I watched her glue straw to the walls. I was truly astounded by her idea, as well as what I thought was an arrogant attitude. I continued to watch and be annoyed by everything from the straw to her habit of painting in Prada heels.
Then I read a couple of articles about her and changed my mind. I read about an interesting, well traveled person with exquisite taste and a great attitude. Her Paris apartment was featured in a magazine as well as on a Trading Spaces special and in my opinion, it was beautiful. Eventually I met Hildi at a couple of different events and she is one of the warmest, most sincere people I have ever known.
I think Hildi is more of an artist than a textbook interior designer. As we all know, art is subjective; there are priceless works of art that are hideous to some, and a masterpiece to others. Her designs are high risk and I think they tend to be more of an artistic statement, but if the homeowner is happy with the results her job was well done. I understand the show is about interior design, but there is risk in any stranger decorating your home while you are not there. For me, she has made it interesting although at times impractical and outrageous.
I also spent time in her Paris neighborhood and it's really fabulous. Anyone remember the gorgeous bridge she walked over during the TS special? She mentioned getting married at Les Invalides and it is truly breathtaking. She has experienced "the world" and her perspective is unique, however her sophisitcation is lost somewhere between her Gucci wardrobe and gluing wine lables and feathers to the walls.
My point of view will not change the minds of those who already have such disdain for her and her work. She is well aware of her critics, yet she is self assured enough to continue being herself. Anything else would be like asking Picasso to paint by numbers.
While she is not suited to many viewers she may inspire a few as she did me. I don't glue anything to the walls, but painting in Prada's isn't such a bad idea after all. Smile Smile
