When is Page coming back? She was a large part of the show. I miss her terribly and so do a ton of my friends. I know she was doing a musical on Broadway but when is she coming back. She certainly spices up the program.
I haven't heard anything about her coming back to TS. but i hope she does . She was on the new show Wed. nite for the Style network called My Celebrity Home. I was about people who have their space decorated like a celebrity and Paige was on the premeiere
Paige didn't leave TS to do Broadway. TS dumped her, and she did Broadway after she lost her hosting job. Don't hold your breath.... unfortunately, she'll never be back on TS.
The show is like, eighty kinds of awkward without her, too.
I agree, but this made me think. I started another thread about "when they are good ..." with point being I loved a show (hostless) where 2 sisters did rooms for each other, and the love expressed throughout made it one of my favorite episodes. (Also seems to have affected Frank and Edward, since they both did rooms I liked, which had never happened before.) I think the common thread here is warmth. Reason I didn't like Alex as a host is that she tried to be edgy, but it came off as snide. Some of her comments to designers - often about good design - were positively rude! Paige - whether at producers' instruction or because it's her personality - always found good things to say about designs, and encouraged HOs to look for the positive ("You at least had fun, didn't you?"), as well as reminding them of how much work went into the rooms, whether it suited HO's particular style or not. She got too high-energy for me at times, but there was a niceness about her and a gung-ho willingness to get in there and do anything needed (unlike Alex, who whined about working) that gave the show a lot of likability. There are episodes I can't watch because of needless negativity in the face of great design. Ex.: HO taking friend to the floor over a color in a gorgeous room done by Laurie; infamous reaction to Doug's fireplace; HOs who tore apart a fabulous kitchen done by Hildi. Word to producers: there's a reason the British version of "Weakest Link" failed in the US as soon as the novelty wore off. Americans don't like mean. And whatever else she was, Paige seemed genuinely nice, and that added something to the show. Finally, if Coca-Cola could admit they made a mistake about New Coke in the 90s - consumers hated it and wanted the original formula back - and SAY so when they brought back original formula, TLC should be able to do the same. It's just good marketing according to the gist of this board and the continuing ratings decline.

There's another energentic person somewhere out there that could be host. They just decided not to do it. Too bad. I think that in time things would have been back to normal.
Hi Pf, I have not seen that particular show?.I know that Nate guy from Oprah did her house, or at least most of it.I never watch anythng designer related unless it's Doug Wilson's work.I still will watch or listen to Trading Spaces when it's not a Doug episode.(Doug's next show is May 15th). Page's house is very small...? I would wonder why someone would want to compromise the quality of the things used.Maybe Nate is one of those designer guys who uses stuff just because it's high priced. No offense if you are a Nate fan, and thanks for the info. There are many Paige fans who will be very happy to hear of this. Take care pf! dawfan
I saw it, and thought it was a great show. It was the premiere episode, and it was great to see Paige again.
I don't think the quality was really compromised. Its not like the show is redoing a room for a thousand dollars like Trading Spaces does. They spent three thousand dollars recreating her livingroom. They bought an expensive sofa for a fraction of the cost, because someone ordered it, and it came in wrong, so they priced it to sell quickly. They recreated the colorful custom art Paige had on the wall, but putting up 4 sqares of colorful ceramic tile and it gave the same burst of color as Paige's artwork. They brought photos of Paige's pillows to a seamstress and she recreated them. The room looked pretty amazing when they were finished.
The show is on Style Network and repeats often. In fact its on again today (Tuesday) at 5 PM ET and again on Thursday at 2 PM ET. Its on a few more times after that too....you can check the schedule here:
That was my favorite story that Paige told , after the Nate makeover, her husband Patrick gave her, as a gift, money to purchase art work that she selected for the living room.
I was amazed how close Celebrity Home came to duplicating the candle holders Paige received as a gift.
I am sooooo happy that Paige is gone & I can watch the show again. I fast forward through the reruns so that I don't have to listen to her nag the designers about time & budget, or give them a hard time about paint color, etc. I'm also happy that I don't have to see that awful hairdo of hers anymore! Please do not bring Paige back. I would prefer someone that was funny!
I did see the Celebrity Home show where they they tried to duplicate the living room of Paige Davis. I thought Paige looked great and appeared as cheerful as ever. The show did a great job on trying to create a room similar to Page's for the homeowners. The show is on the style network.
Listen up producers, you are losing viewers. You are making decisions based on initial finances but over the longhaul you will end up losing BIG. You need to take into account viewer response.People love Paige and miss her terribly, I for one can count on one hand and not come close to useing all of my fingers, the number of times that I have watched the show since Paige left. I don't enjoy it. I used to watch TS every evening, despite my husband's constant complaining. I know that several of my friends have stopped watching the show, so producers I ask you was it worth losing viewers in order to save a buck?
I was upset when Paige left too, and at first I found the show was slow moving. Nevertheless, I am still a regular watcher as I enjoy the design portion of the show and some of the personalities.
I really liked Alex and would love for her to return.
I don't even remember what I meant! Safe to say that I need reminders from myself not to take self too seriously!! My bottom line is that I wasn't so hot for Alex because - for whatever reason: whether producers told her to be that way or it was her personality - she either refused to get her hands dirty, or whined when she did. Further, she tried to have a "biting" wit that simply came off as putting down the designers, even when they had done a good job, and/or done their very best. Though I found Paige to be too high energy, and the intensity grated on my nerves at times, her attitude about the work and her role in it was very positive, and her comments to the designers and HOs were unfailingly affirming, which uplifted the show, in my estimation. I never liked Alex after she told HOs -- who were gah gah (SP) over their LR and hadn't said one negative word about it -- that if they didn't like Laurie's upholstered ottomon/coffee table (which was gorgeous, a great design element, and particularly practical for how the family lived, but about which Alex had made disparaging remarks to Laurie in the final host/designer comments portion of the show) they could "always change it." Alex tried to "judge" the designs, but because she didn't have any real design sense, her comments were almost always off the mark. Paige had better taste, praised the good designs, and when the designs couldn't be praised, found something positive to say.

I have watched just a few episodes since Paige left. I do not like the current style. I know Paige will never be back and that disappoints me. I wish her well in the future, but I think TS is a goner.
I don't think Page added anything to the show. I like the newer format, but I also liked Alex. I wish some of the other designers would come back. WHERE IS VERN?
if paige is gone, why do i see her every time i watch TS? she did nothing for the show except distract the designers and families. i really can't get through a show that i see her on and i love TS.
Paige hasn't filmed an episode of TS since January of 2005....a year and four months. If you're seeing her on all the episodes, you're watching afternoon reruns, and not the Saturday night, new episodes.

At this point the afternoon reruns would be a treasure. When exactly is another network going to pick up the show so we can get back to business? Isn't Discovery channel supposed to pick it up or was I just dreaming that?

I know they do air TS on the Discover Home channel. But you need digital hook up to view it. They've gone as far back as 2001. Mainly, it's from season 2 on. I don't think I've seen anything from season 6 or 4 for that matter.
For the first couple years I was on here, most of the comments were about how irritating Paige was, how bossy/annoying/yada yada yada. So the producers actually listened (for once) and they did what people were asking...they got rid of the "annoying hosts/format".
They didn't kill the show by axing Paige. Frankly, getting rid of her at the show's peak will probably help her in the long run. She won't be associated with the dismal decline of the show. Where they did kill the show was in the "game show" premise where there were winners and losers. There was a predictable format that every third Hildi room was a good one...the rest were dismal and controversial for no rational reason (think cardboard).
The HOs who got those rooms were losers in every sense of the word. Not only did they work all night to create something nice for their friends, but they had to come home to schlock...pay to repair all of the damage...and then they got a 1099 at the end of the year and had to pay taxes on the "prize". Banyan should have stopped the despicable and unprofessional behavior 3 years ago...then the show would have had a chance at longevity. Unless they recommit to saving the show (which doesn't appear to be happening), its days are numbered. There's just too much competition for this audience from shows that don't destroy people's home for the shock value of it all.
I agree with you too Jellybean... I think from now on the designers should do their best to give the homeowners the look they want, the look they were longing for. They ought to see just how close they can deliver the homeowners dream room. No more shock and surprises except the surprise of a shockingly beautiful room. The fun and excitement for me comes in seeing what the designers can do on a shoestring budget and laughing along with the interaction of all the players.
Everbody I talk to wish Page would return. The homeowners don't do the job. I wish it would go back to one room not pick from three and the price stay $1000.00. That is more my price range.

Oh, ho, I soooo disagree. She practically sputtered in Laurie's face one time. She was without exception, rude to Kia. Although I think a lot of it was in the editing and designed to generate controversy, that the words came out of her mouth shows just how snide she can ce

Was it just me or was that guy a stone fox?! What a doll!

Jelly you are obviousally a woman in management. And you are so right. I have had the same thoughts myself! Especially in the industry of television.
Actually Kia is a pretty good designer. And Paige seemed to ride her all the time. One episode when Kia couldn't finish the room (not Kia's fault) Paige was over the top. it isn't like they don't have assistants to help with the work.
I stopped being fascinated with TS after I learned of the contract and all the help homeowners have.
Kia can really design. She is just head strong. I will never forget her painting the piano that was an heirlom. The HO actually requested it not be touched. In those days they knew which room was being done. I would have removed the piano. But even though they didn't, she should not have painted it.
I'm another Kia fan. Her rooms certainly weren't perfect, but she did design some beautiful rooms. Her Egyptian bedroom was incredible! Kia's main problem, was there was always one element in her room that really stunk. Even the beautiful Egyptian bedroom had that monstrously huge, non-working water fountain pyramid. Of course, there were the borders, and in the garden room, the flower bedspread that looked like a grave blanket. But if you took out the one element in her room that stunk, the rest of the room was really nice (most of the time). I think people focused on that one item that stunk...Ewww, Kia used another border.....but didn't notice the rest of the room was nice, if the one offending thing was removed.
I hear ya. I just thought a bunch of her rooms were tacky. The window treatments too gaudy (she was toning down later). Too many themes (think camafloge walls; picket fences and fake flowers in the grave room). Too often form over function (bed hanging in the middle of the room). Believe me, there generally wasn't only one thing in the room I didn't like. I wouldn't be able to live in practically anything she ever did.

Now, that room was a total disaster! LOL! I'll definitely give you that. I don't know what she was thinking when she came up with that idea. Not only was it not executed very well, I don't know why she thought a military family would want a camouflaged decorated room.

Me too. You wont get an argument out of me on that one!
Agree! While I'm not thrilled about the multi-room choice and $2k envelopes, I do like the idea that you get a bit more insight to the HOs in the introduction and I love the 2 week later bit. You get to see what truly happens after the cameras leave and how the HOs really feel. During the reveal, many HOs are in a shocked state of mind and don't have a chance to take it all in.
The show is like, eighty kinds of awkward without her, too. But what do I know?
I really liked Paige and was able to ignore all the negative comments. Her personality gave the show a lot of energy. Unfortunately when you represent a company you have to be careful of what you do. It was a mistake. This mistake doesn't define her. She's great. But I can understand from a legal stand point why TS had to let her go. She used bad judgement. Now she is one to bigger things.
The designers, Home owners, host, and crew make up the show. Not one person is expendable. Not even my favorite Edward. The show can still go on. They just need another host.
I miss Vern too. But I would be really bummed if Edward or Frank left. Their personalities would be really missed as long as their designs. But it could happen.
I saw Vern! on the Style Channel but it was a clip for an HGTV show with three competing designers and Vern was one of the judges. I know, not enough info, but hope to see that clip again. Did anyone else see it?
