Hey everyone,
As you can see we are all probably big fans of man vs wil with bear grylls. We've all seen how he survives in places like africa and the arctic. Although what if we saw team up with another person. What if Bear Grylls teamed up with Les Stroud from the show survivorman also on the discovery channel on one special like episode where they have to survive together. Think about it, two big people on surviving teaming up to surive in one place. They have to work together and find a way to survive for antoher seven days.

If anyone likes this idea please reply and give ideas. If we try hard enough we could make this happen. We could actually have man vs wild combined with survivorman in one episode.

So pleeeeeeeeeeeeez help!

thank you all

Count me in as a definite YES vote! Two winning personalities (plus they're good looking to boot) on one 2 hour special would be quite nice.

I agree that it's definitely a show I would be interested in watching, but don't waste your time considering this to be a serious campaign KKM. The original post is by Laylo. Must just be having fun (Roll Eyes) with the name changing problem going around here. (You can easily follow the names throughout other posts) If Discovery happens to be paying attention though, I hope they do consider such a show concept regardless of whether it was stated jokingly or not.

I'm rarely serious. I just like the concept of the duo getting together.

Have fun. Maybe our votes will count someday.

I can definitely say that I'd have a nice chuckle if the day comes that Discovery does create a Bear/Les special. What will the Les fans (granted, I happen to be a fan of BOTH, but for viewing pleasure, I prefer Man vs Wild) say if Les did agree on doing a show with Bear? lol Big Grin

I really cannot see Les and Bear doing a combined effort, it'll be like trying to combine "Jeopardy" with "Wheel of Fortune". Granted that both are "game shows", but at opposite ends of the intellectual spectrum. I feel the same about SM and MvW, not so much on the intellect part, both are considered "survival" show formated, but being on opposite ends of the spectrum.

I thin this would be an excellent idea. Maybe on the Pinhoti trail or the Appalachain trails.

I think its a great idea. They would be able to demonstrate doubles techniques. A lot of what they do they do alone, with two people you can accomplish a lot more, besides the morale boost from just having antoher person with you.

Yeah man that's awesome! They could go somewhere really hard to survive. Like the Himalayas

I always thought about this and how cool it would be. I would love to see it, but CamperCraig did make a good point. Bear is more of an extremist while Les is a little less calm. Although in a place like the Appalachain trails which is a mix of 'extremism' and calmness, it would be neat to see. I wouldn't personally watch it for the survival techniques as surviving on the Appalacains is actually quite easy, but I would enjoy watching to see how they would survive together. Group survival is much different than sole survival. I would be curious to see how Bear and Les survive with other people, and maybe even each other.

In a nutshell, I would love to see it and definately vote yes for the idea.

Even if both wanted to do this, which I doubt, by the time their respective production teams and Discovery work out who does what and who gets what, it will be called "Survival in Powerchairs".

I have to agree with you here. If both wanted to do this, the producers would argue with each other so much just about basic concepts. It would be better off showing another survival expert or even another person along with Bear or Les and seeing group survival like that.

kBird, I don't think it would be just the producers of the two series going at each other on how the show should be done being the only hurdle to over come, but I think that Les's "no contact" policy, plus his heavy involvement on the editing side would also be a major obstacle as well.

Les did act as a "host" on his "Surviving Alaska" show, but he was prudent on who the producers were, and I cannot see him working with MvW producers at this point in time.

True, I completely forgot the Les does all his editing himself also. Even if they did decide to do it, the problem would still be if there is a camera crew, who will do the editing, etc.

BTW: I think Surviving Alaska was probably better than Survivorman. Anyway agree?

"Surviving Alaska" was faster paced, and it did show a more energetic "action figure" Les, since he has help from a safety crew a few feet away, and all scenes were "staged". I still like "Survivorman" though, for being more realistic in form.

I read that,as of last month, Les was putting the final stages of putting together season three of "Survivorman". Again, I don't foresee Bear and Les doing a show together any time soon.

Very good anaylisis Craig. Surviving Alaska was ALMOST like Man Vs. Wild in the sense of actiony (if that is a word). Don't get me wrong, I still love Survivoprman. =D

I've got a better idea, how about Bear goes head to head against Les. I mean, we all know that Bear will kick the crap out of Les at anything survival, but it would be very fun to watch. After all, in the wild, animals have to fight to show their dominance, so this will be a perfect oppurtunity for Bear to get in tune with his inner beast. Anyway, just a thought.

That's not much of an idea. A better idea would be Bear and Les vs. Zombies. I'd watch it religiously Big Grin

Hopefully, they'll be equipped with a regular weapon most of us will be able to get.

Like a shotgun or pistol. Some close combat would be nice too.

BG has an exciting tv show and certainly has some skill when it comes to performing stunts but when it comes to survival, those of us who actually do “know” realize that he really doesn’t know much about wilderness survival. He would never go head to head against Les or any other survival expert because his lack of knowledge would be exposed and the things that he does excel at, stunts and gags, would be worthless. Let’s look at the facts- He’s never started a fire without his ferro rod; he’s never built his own shelter; he’s never caught anything larger than a bug to eat and even some of those were “provided by the crew”; he frequently takes ridiculously unnecessary risks; has no clue how to make or properly place any sort of trap or snare; even when he does get something right, more often than not, it looks like it was something he learned about 10 minutes before. Survival skills are just like any other skill set, they require practice to perfect. Outside of acting on a tv show and selling books, clothes and knives it really doesn’t seem like BG has much interest in survival. If he did, he wouldn’t come of as a novice or as Ray Mears (a true survival expert) would say- a boy scout.
