Have often thought Bear Grylls should visit the backcountry of the central to southern Oregon Cascades. In the last 2 years, several families unknowlingly at night taking a logging road have becomes stuck in the snow. Some stayed with their vehicles, other's (often times the father) leave their families to go find help. Some ending were happy, being able to find help and get rescued, others were not. Recently, I believe 2 years ago, a young couple with two young girls took a back road at night and got stuck. After several days, the father decided to venture out and look for help. Rescuers found the vehicle with the mother and girls a week later. A search was then put out for the father. He was found dead a day later less than a mile away from the vehicle face down in a puddle of water overcome with fatigue. I love Bear Grylls show, watch it every Friday, but some of the locations and settings are far fetched. This would be a more realistic situation. What to do if your vehicle is stuck, no help in days, do you leave the car or pray someone will find you?
