Well let me tell you i never would have thought growing up that three children under 7 years old would be depending on me to be their rock.

My husband is a Tanker in the Marine Corps and has deployed 4 times. He has more ribbons and medals than i have colored pictures on my fridge. He amazes me. He has fought in cities where many men and women have died. He has traveled almost all around the world. He, He, HE. and this is where He stops.

Military, words come to mind are; strong, brave, heros, tough and mean. killers, saviors and the list can go on, but what about their families?

Since im a Marine wife, I'll tell you about my experiences, my "WAR STORIES".

Children then to act different when daddy isnt around, everyone knows that. Some get quiet, some get loud and some just ship their brain off with daddy when he left. The stories that children do get wild when daddy leaves. Some you just stand in shock and amazment that it happened. While my husband was off saving the world (i tell my kids) The kids and I got a puppy. We named her Abby, which soon then came to be Abby Dog. when i held her in my hands i told that dog. "Your going to grow to help people."
I wasnt sure who she was going to help. i tried looking up childrens hospitals and cried my eyes out at pictures on the internet. then i looked up special needs children, cried, then nursing homs and cried. Im not a weak person at all, just compassionate. Then i heard about the "Wounded Warrior Barracks" here at Camp Lejeune. At first i didnt think people lived in it, but there are many. Their stories are detailed and you can almost smell the burnt medal when they describe being blown up. and looking at them, most you'd never guess that it happened. they have healed and became stronger. I take Abby Dog there often and she plays tug a war and fetch with them. We laugh about football and whats on the news. We talk about cars and getting back into the Marines. I have only sen the Marines from two prospectives before. My husbands and the news. the Good and the Bad. These Marines have told me stories i wouldnt believe if i heard it from the news. These guys are so young. so amazing. i feel selfish that i havent shared these guys stories with other people, but its better when it comes from them. i hope one day they can be on tv and share their incedible survial stories.

Mrs. D.
P.S. If you are ever at Camp Lejeune North Carolina. go to the wounded warrior barracks on base and go see these guys during the day. go ahead and ask them what happened, what it sounded like, smelt like. they love sharing. It helps them more than you know.
