I think 30 minute fitness routines with commercials are point-less. Once you cut out the commercials, you only actually end up with about 15-20 minutes of exercise time, which is better than none, but not really effective for most people. At least with the one-hour shows, you end up with about 45 minutes of actual exercise time which is much more effective.
This is why you work out during the commercials. I either continue doing the same exercise they do before the commercial or jog in place until the episode continues. Or I do reps with weights and palates. That way you get the full 30 minutes.
