I really liked the series Ship Out, Shape Up. I'm going through Industrial Rehabilitation to get back on my feet from a back surgery and feeling much better. While at home, I've been watching Ship Out, Shape Up. I hope FitTV will continue to have more televised shows of more upcoming groups. In addition to my rehab, I've learned many tips from the show and enjoyed watching everyone's progress. I especially like the trainer Ethelda! She rocks!
I totally agree!!! I love this show and I too hope you all have more of them. I had a baby last year at the age of 40 (I know I know yowza hehe) anyhow... Boy did it mess up my weight and not so easy to loose now that I'm a bit older. I used to be a competitive light weight bodybuilder and I have totally let myself go and after the baby, I have hit a brick wall in the metabolism department. This show however is inspiring and motivating.. I would love to be with a big group like that to loose weight together since I'm so competitive against myself .. Please keep the show going and the trainers ROCK.. love it
I also love this show! I am however, interested in knowing how one might find their way to be on this show. Any suggestions or ideas? I am currently more out of shape than I would like to be and will be starting an exercise routine. What better way than to do it on a ship?
I absolutely LOVE this show....I tape it then watch it when I run on my elliptical...it is inspiring! The trainers are awesome... I was sad when I saw the note about Jennifer...I tried searching it and can find NOTHING...anyone know?
I saw the mention of Jennifer Blakley tonight too on Ship Out, Shape Up. Can anyone tell me who she was? Was she one of the trainers or one of the passengers on the cruise? Thank you!

Hi Janet I can only tell you that Jennifer died due to complications from her gastric bi pass. That is all I know. I am glad that you have found her inspirational, she truly was too many. Thanks nancy

Yes, she was the young woman (blond, kinda short hair)who they described at the beginning of the show as having gastric bypass surgery... She was seen having trouble doing push-ups working with Nancy Sexton on her team.
The first time I saw the Dedication to Jennifer Blakley my heart just dropped and I knew it was her. She came so far on the show and before it but that gastric bypass was/is a nasty surgery for a lot of people. I am so sorry to here it.
I do hope the do another Ship out cruise with the cast from The Gym, we need new episodes to get inspired.

Me too... when I saw the dedication and realized it was Jennifer who died, I got tears in my eyes. Only 27 years old when she died. I've seen way too many folks die from gastric bypass. Way too many. 'bout time they ditch that surgery - lap band is a better and safer procedure.
