I saw the show on Muscle Beach last night and was wondering when someone is going to give attention to natural bodybuilders...specifically lifetime drug-free bodybuilding.
Check on the ANBC sometime. Competitors must take and pass a polygraph to show they are lifetime drug free...not 2 years...not 7 years...we are all lifetime drug free! Sure, we aren't as big, but we work just as hard (or harder) and our physiques are attainable by everyone watching your show.
I have been bodybuilding for 20 years and competed at 6' tall and 190 pounds. Six-footers at the Olympia are now pushing 275-300 pounds, and that's not realistic. Give some coverage to those who train naturally. You won't regret it.
We have regional competitions and a national final every year. It's all very well done.
I must agree. I am also a natural bodybuilder. Maybe we should start our own show . Just a thought. I do vote for more weight training and natural bodybuilding shows!
I agree w/ you guys. I watched that last night and was frankly frightened by some of those women! That ain't natural...AND...being a red-blooded female that can muchly appreciate a nicely muscled nicely built man with that awesome V-shape, a great 6-pack of abs, etc, I found myself wishing that those guys would just put more clothes on!
No need to start our own show. Do a search for natural bodybuilding or go to ANBC.org. Last I checked the ANBC website wasn't updated, but it gives a lot of information about where the contests are. (nationwide)
If you want, I could try to send you some photos of what you would be up against. I didn't think I could compete, but after seeing what I was up against, I was wrong. I won my class (men's tall) and finished second in the overall at the Phoenix, AZ event. The cream of the crop in the ANBC are pretty big, but as I mentioned, I've been working religiously for 20 years at this and natural bodybuilders seem to peak around 40 or so.
I couldn't compete in the Nationals due to a shoulder injury, but I'm qualified for 3 years, so maybe next year.
One thing I can tell you....nothing gives a boost to your training like training for a contest. I never had 12 weeks of training like that. I did not do cardio, but I lost 29 pounds and GAINED some strength and learned a lot about diet in the process.
It's a great organization and everyone is very helpful.
