Ok FitTV.. I love your programs, but as a fitness instructor, I do not belive that Blaine's cooking show should be on your channel. People turn to FitTV for tips on a HEALTHY lifestyle. Sure, you will lose weight with a low/no-carb diet, but your body needs carbs, especially if your working out regularly!
I watch Blaine as he pours cups and cups of HEAVY CREAM and stick, after stick of butter into his "healthy" dishes and I want to scream. This is very misleading to the many uneducated, unhealthy people who are turning to FitTV for advice. I think a Healthy cooking show is a great idea, but Blaine is not promoting a healthy lifestyle and I think this needs to be considered.

Like most of the posters on the board, I couldn't tell that Blaine lost that much weight. However, Blaine's Low Carb Kitchen was filmed at least four years ago over a few weeks. What we are seeing are re-runs. I think the test to see if a high protein, low carb diet works is to see what Blaine looks like now, a few years after he started his diet. The low carb diet is supposed to be a lifestyle diet so if he found the diet successful, he would still be on it and he'd be much slimmer than he was on the show. What about it Fit TV. How about filming a new Blaine's Low Carb Kitchen showing what Blaine looks like in 2007, not just 2002 or 2003 when the original series was filmed.

The low carb diet is just a fat persons fantasy. I cannot believe that anyone still thinks that it is a good idea. What kind of bizzaro world do you live in where you think that a healthy diet contains all the bacon, cheese, grease, etc as you can eat but not whole grains or fruit? People will believe what they want to believe. If you believe that the low carb diet is good for you hey, I' ve got some more health tips for your: smoking is good for you, exercise is bad, drinking alcohol helps you drive better especially when your not wearing your seatbelt, stress is good so try to pick more fights with your family, and don't ever brush your teeth or get regular dentist check ups. The diet is obviously not working for the star of the show. I wouldn't say hes a hero but you got to give him props for being a big fat son of a b**** and still being able to have his own TV show about losing weight which is on several times a day.

I just watched the show for the first time last night. At first I thought WOW! That does not look like someone that should be hosting a low carb show, but after I watched it and they showed a picture of him before he started his low carb diet...And I felt bad for even thinking that! (Shame on Me) !!! He has done very well! While low carb dieting is not for everyone...It has worked well for me in the past! Don't knock it til you've tried it!And guy's, let's give him some credit and respect ...at least he is changing his life. For the "Thinner!" Thanks

You need to wake up and see that low carb is the way to go. My husband and I have lost over 50 lbs by reducing our sugar, white flour and potatoes. I am back down to a junior size in clothes and eat alot. The low carb recipes all call for meats, butters and creams. Low carb foods absorb differently in the body and burns differently. Read some of the information and listen to him. You may learn something. Your opionion shows how ignorant one can be. Before you make an opionion on something, try to educate your self first.

I know this is an old thread but I just stumbled on it and am curious about a couple things. I noticed that many posters (some working in the industry in one capacity or another) made statements to the effect that "low-carb" is not healthy and subsequently not conducive to a "fit" lifestyle. Unfortunately, I did not see any science to support these statements.
Those who do not understand human metabolic function frequently counter the argument for low-carb lifestyles by making the statement: "You need carbs!!!" This is quite true. However, the amount you need and the composition of those carbohydrates depends largely on the individual in question and his or her body type and lifestyle, not a generic food pyramid.
Keep in mind, low-carb is not no-carb. Those chosing to follow a low-carb nutritional plan, do eat carbs, only they limit the total number of grams per day. Under those circumstances, it is sensible to elect to get their carbs primarily in the form of vegeatables, as opposed to grains. The reason being, that the vegetables are of much higher nutritional value(vitimans and minerals) than bread or pasta.
As for the butter and heavy cream laden recipes...The human body needs these fats. Plus, it is metabolized for energy more quickly and efficiently than glucose and unlike glucose, it does not end up as stored body fat.
Excess body fat is the real culprit in arterial conditions and high cholesterol. Therefore, if the low-carb eating leads to a reduction in body fat, why is it so "bad" and not worthy of having a show dedicated to its practice?

I had the same thought whether this diet was really healthy when BLaine adds artificial sweeteners to most dishes. I have been following a book called UltraMetabolism which seems to focus on Whole foods. Blaine's recipes are overladen with chemicals that our bodies can't process. I wouln't recommend this diet to anyone.

I know this reply is a bit late... Why do you assume I am not educated??? I have a Bachelor's degree in exercise science. I took many nutrition classes in college. I have also read many books and articles on my own because health and nutrition are a hobby of mine. I am a certified personal trainer. So my opinion is based on my education, personal research, and experience working with people trying to lose weight. What is your opinion based on? Probably the fact that you like bacon so much and don't want to eat a balanced healthful diet.

Blaine's diet will soon get him cancer, heart disease, diabetes and/or many other problems. The show should be called, "How to kill yourself with food." I have read dozens of books on nutrition this year alone, and not one of them reccomends a low carb diet. Atkins was a quack, and every serious nutritionist knows that. I hate to turn on Blaine - it is like watching someone commit suicide.
I love every other show on the channel, but HATE, HATE, HATE this one. It is like violent porn. I can't turn it off fast enough when my kids are around.
This is what happens when marketing execs try to run a fitness channel. Complete ignorance! Here are some books they should read (a small sampling), and then pass on to Blaine before he dies from a heart attack:
"Eat More, Weigh Less" by Dr. Dean Ornish
"The China Study" by Dr. Colin Campbell (the best of the bunch)
"The New Four Food Groups" by Dr. Neil Barnard
"In Defense of Food" by Michael Pollan
"Eat to Live" by Dr. Joel Fuhrman

I would love to see this guy's blood panel. He is a heart attack, stroke, diabetic, cancer patient, and asthmatic waiting to happen. I feel so sorry for his kids.
Low carb kills. Read any book on nutrition in the past 20 years, or read position papers put out by the American Heart Association, the American Diabetic Association, or any others, and they will tell you the only healthful diet (based on hundreds of studies) is high carb - lots of fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, beans, and whole grains, with VERY LITTLE animal protien or fats added.
My sympathies to Blaine's children who will soon be without a parent if he continues to kill himself on national television.
