I think that given the situation that he is putting himself in, sometimes words will come out- I certinally don't think that anything or anyone should be offended by them- I think that it's a show that we choose to watch, and if he offended God, then HE will pay for it, not us...........I will say that it's one of the best shows out there- it's not like I want to watch the News now a days!!
I will try not to make this offensive but, I do not think saying good god, or taking the "lords name in vain" is so terrible. and for the people who say he shouldn't "swear"...its just words...Its how they are used that makes them bad. And for sheltering your kids like that is a joke and when they step into the real world, its going to be a slap in there face.
I am not religious and I do not believe in god and I hate it when people always have to bring religion into situations! religion is corrupt...for the most part. not everyone who is religious is corrupt, there are many good people out there, but in general to me, organized religion is corrupt. I'm sorry if i am getting off topic, but it angers me when people try to push there religious veiws on other people. I don't believe in god so i think he and other people sould be able to say it if he wants to. Why should I or anyone else for that matter not be able to say what we want...to an extent! Its not like he is going around threating people!
I don't think he should be able to swear up a storm but its not going to do anybody any harm if the "s" word slips out of his mouth.
"Taking the Lord's name in vain" is a pretty ambiguous commandment. What one person sees as perfectly acceptable another might see as blasphemy. It's not like there is a master list in the Bible of what words and expressions are forbidden. Because of this, different denominations and individuals are free to interpret this commandment however they want, guided by their reasoning and conscience. I doubt that Mike Rowe believes he is being blasphemous.
I am a christian and i think that mike doesnt really take the good lords name in vain all that much and just try to think if you were doing those jobs what might come out of your mouth. I know if i was doing some of the crazy stuff that he does on the show i would swear also.
Blasphemy. Blasphemous. They sound like dirty words. "They sprayed BLASPHEMOUS all over the place". "The blasphemists sprayed the blasphemy all over, thereby making the blasphemy blasphemous.
If people don't like hearing the occasional blue word or "God", they can always exercise their right to change the channel. It's that simple. So get off the god thing and go watch the 700 club.

Here is a quote from george carlin, it may not be exact....
"Religion is the biggest BS story ever. Religion acutually gets people to believe that there is an imaginary man living in sky. And he watches everything you do every minute of everyday! And there are a list of ten things you are not supposed to do and if you do them he will send you to a place of burning fire, and pain...but he loves you. And he is all-powerful and all-knowing...but he needs your money. Just can't seem to hang on to money!!! So over night, I became a sun worshipper. Well acutully first thing the next morning. First of all I can see the sun. that helps its credibility. it gives me everything I need, warmth and light." -George Carlin.
I love george carlin, hes so funny and I agree with him on most of his views. anyways, just felt like posting that here.
look l love my show and dirty jobs and. Mike Rowe why is that when a good show like. This comes on the air that everyone says. Somethink like mike rowe using God in the. Show so what why not seeing all the cartoons, With all the gussing and made laugange on those. And the music they listen too don't watch the. Show if you don't like the lauganges mikes using. the rest like too watch mike on the show and. Enjoy watching the show mike is a gentelmen. Ok lay off MIKE RULES
Hey! Let's all start taking Mike's name in vain. Wait a minute - Now there's a thought... It's time to send him back into a coal vein!
Regardless, the show's still a work of art, and Mike-o-angelo is still holding the brush... Or the hose... Or the shovel... Or the squeegee... Hmmm. The squeegee?
Hi Everyone, I read all these comments about Mike using inappropriate language. The person who brought up the comment may not have had alot of exposure to TV today. The language Mike has used is very appropriate and if you where to have viewed it in the 1960's, 70's when there was very heavy sensoring I bet not one word would have been bleeped out in accordance to the sensoring back then. Even William Shakespeare used questionable language for his day. That person has every right to question and bring up the subject. I am sure Mike reads these comments and takes them to heart. He doesn't want to loose fans especially kids so I am sure he trys very hard to use the best way to express how he feels during each Dirty Job. He is a Professional. ( You don't train and sing for a well known Opera Company without study language, acting etc. So lets put "this puppy to bed "
