I had posted the same thought a little while back but, I was concerned about his mental health, All the different things he has gone through has got to give him nightmares, I'd be having flashbacks about cockroaches for the rest of my life.
I too worry about his health. I am watching the show about 'Rose Bowl Floats' and he is pulling off moldy fruit and I see the mold sproes in the air and that can't be good for his health.
He was there with the floats for what? A day? The other guys have been doing it for years and they looked ok.
Im sure he is exposed to alot of stuff but Im sure his immune system is probably better than most peoples just because of the exsposure to what he has faced.
He needs to start wearing masks a little more thats for sure.
As for the Nightmares....... He's a pretty down to earth Guy....I doubt he looses any sleep about cockroaches or ratt's.
But for the most part he looks pretty dang heathly and he has doing a great job so far with this show!
I agree with hduryea. Although I understand y'alls concern, what about the health and mental state of the people who do this day in and day out? They are the true heroes of this show! I'm sure when he's not gettin dirty, MR gets all the perks of being a TV host (big paycheck, recognition, groupies). Ok, maybe not the last one. Or the the last two...wait, what was my point again?
The way that I see it...Mike is the Discovery Channel....with hosting DJ as well as the voice over work and the subsequent episodes of the DC that he also hosts...I'm sure that the powers that be do everything they can to make sure that Mike is healthy and does not come down with any illnesses. Plus...if a job is too dangerous involving a lot of hazzards...I am sure that the risk management department as well as the insurance company that oversees Mike as well as the cameramen, sound men, etc....would make sure they do NOT do anything that would pose a huge liability risk. I am sure that there are some jobs that they would like to attempt...but due to risk factors...the powers that be would not permit it from happening. For instance....last nights episode where he was on the wind turbine...and he went outside...just seeing that would make me cringe. Or the time he was working on the bridge.....Yikes!!!! Going back to last night where he was repelling into a sink hole to get the junk out....and it really wasn't safe to repell due to the falling rocks and such....if I worked in that department at Discovery I wouldn't be able to sleep, eat, do anything....I would be worried about the talent and their workers. However...I also know that if Mike and the guys felt that it was not safe to do something...there is no way he would do it. Sometimes I think their judgement is a little off....case in point...going to the snake farm and cleaning the rattlesnake pit...yeah...not even at gunpoint would you get me to do that job.
I worry when he takes off his mask so they can hear him talk... And that one time (was it cleaning the elevator?) when the guy said they should be wearing masks... I squirm a little at moments like that....
O_o and heights... I fear for all their lives when they're high up... I was in agony watching him climb around the top of that ski-lift-mountain-ferry or whatever it was...
