Mack stated in this week's episode that a major disadvantage of the M4 Carbine is that is makes it difficult to get in and out of a vehicle. Sheesh! I would have given a month's pay (base pay + combat zone) back in the day for a CAR-15 which was the original issue version in the lineage which has evolved into the M4. During our regular 13+ hour patrol shifts, we had to mount and dismount the vehicle (M-151) as many as 50 to 60 times with the very unwieldy M-14. At the time, only armored vehicle crews were normally issued the CAR-15 and on a limited basis at that. It's interesting how the notion of what is an unwieldy weapon has greatly changed in 40 years.
