I have to say after watching this weeks episode of the top ten weapons that changed the world I was not shocked at all of how misinformed the general public really is based first on the choice of weapons and second the placement order of the weapons in the list starting at number ten counting down to number one. I know how confusing and fustrating it can be researching the military industrial coplex! What the general public does'nt know is what makes them the general public! It is absolutely imperative that National security is held in check at any cost and what the Goverment does'nt
want you to discover you wont! Make know mistake about it! In my humble opinion I have to disagree with number one on the list. Edward Teller father of hydrogen bomb brought us into the thermonuclear age and gave mortal man the ability of self extinction. Number two I have to go with the nuclear bilistic submarines. I believe there the most important weapons for deterent force and the most complicated machines ever built in the history of mankind. The most lethal killing machine ever invented and the very backbone of the United States military!

Some might think information itself is the ultimate weapon?? Antimatter weapons are rumered to exsist? Ever vigilant and keeping our country safe is the name of game! Amen

Question:
What is the true nature of war?
What is the true enemy of war?

Choices:
The continuation of pollitics by other means or to serve it's self.
The true enemy of war is war itself.

Filtering 'Whatis the true nature of war?' and 'What is the enemy of war?' both into only one of two presumptuous possibilities is both sophomoric and platitudinous.

Interesting...Top Ten Weapons that Changed the World...so where is the M1 Garand????? This was definitely one of the most influential rifles used by the American Military.

the reason the M1 was not mentioned is because it was only weapons created AFTER WWII

I was with the 10 Mtn Div in Iraq and served for 5 years and manned many different weapons. The fact that the M2 Browning .50cal was not on the list of weapons that changed the world means that the people making the list never served in combat. The M2's that we are using now are the same as the ones used in WWII. That should tell you how good it is.

Interesting Program! I noted that you limited the scope of weapons to 60 years. in the grand scheme of the human experience ICBM's qualify as well as the Nimitz class aircraft carrier. BUT, in the total 10 top historical picture of weapons that changed the world. I think many scholars would agree (arguably agree) these considerations:

1. The Welch Long bow: arguably the most important weapon in the Battle of Hastings. England would be a totally different place has this war turned differently.

2. Invention of the cannon. Ask any European war historian.

3. The industrialized mechanisms of the American revolutionary rifle (all parts interchange-able).

3. Radar: although proven to be a failure at Pearl Harbor, with was only for last of confidence in the device. It arguably changed the course of the WWII.
These are but a few candidates, but got the subtitle of your text "in the last 60 years".

The high tech "boom-boom" stuff looks cool to the 20-ish audience and retiree you are catering to, but the B-52?... The apache? If you’re going to go that route give it to the Huey!

It's all in fun to learning about the things that changed the world. References upon request.

I am just wondering why the ak-47 was not atleast in the top 3> It has been responsable for the overthrow of almost every small government. and other than that the only weapon that rivals it in reliability is HnK 's replacement for the M-4.
