hey guyz... i was just talkin' to my dad about the casket that caved in with... let's see... not ADAM in it... the OTHER guy... anyway, all the large places where they bury people in caskets now 'days require concrete vaults covering them which in turn allows for light-weight steel construction of the casket itself. so... ya may want to try a wood one, which for structural reasons and inherent strength of the cellulose structure of hard wood more than likely WON'T cave in... or find a "vintage" casket (NOT formerly occupied) and try the experiment again... fyi, i was an Imagineer with Disney for years and LOVE the show... let me know if ya ever need advice to are lookin' for a new member for the "build" team... i have really severe learning disability and am SAVANT... hey, try freezing water using just ice, not dry ice, cause ya CAN'T do it... also, a 2-liter bottle sealed to the muzzle of an assult rifle makes a PERFECT one-shot silencer, and because of the design you CAN'T silence a revolver!!! well, actually ya can if you drape a heavy material over the entire gun to trap the air that escapes between the face of the cylinder and the "forcing cone" press into the frame at the rear of the barrel... so, hit me back sometime... Allow me to clarify... modern, light-weight, low-cost metal caskets like the one used during the "Buried Alive" episode are made of a much lighter gauge of steel than those of just a few ago. They are also much less "sturdy" than hardwood ones as well. In addition, even modern hardwood caskets may not stand up to six feet of earth, especially if the earth is extremely moist.

As for concrete burial vaults, here is a website: http://www.ncbva.org/ that explains what modern burial vaults are and their required use in cemeteries.

So, it's a give and take -- add the burial vault and a lighter, affordable casket can be used. But it most certainly won't stand up to very much earth. If it's worth re-visiting, a good-quality, hardwood casket "should" work and hold true to the myth.

Forgive the confusion!

Regards...

p.s. have I posted this in the wrong location, again? It's only my second post.
