I am one of those (thousands of) success stories with internet dating.
I met my wife through an internet dating site. We lived more than 80 miles from each other and would never have met except for the internet.
We shared common goals and interests. In fact, the site we were on calculated that we were an 84% match.
We met on line in May, talked on the phone in June, went on our first date in July, were engaged to be married in August and we we married October 24th 2003. (The day that the Old Fire in San Bernardino started).
We live in the mountains of Southern California
(Lake Arrowhead).
We are now living out our Happily Everafter.
This was not the first marriage for either of us.
We beleive it will be our last.

I met both my husband and my best friend on line. I knew my friend for almost two years from on line before I met her in "real" life, but we hit it off immediately, and I was there on the day that she married the guy SHE met on the internet.

My husband and I met on line in a chat room for writers, talked on the phone three months later, and met in person after ten months. He moved to my home town from 1,378 miles away, and he and I have been together ever since. All of my friends thought I was crazy to meet someone on line, but I was very careful, meeting in public the first few times and making sure that my family and friends knew where I was.

You don't know who you are seeing when you meet someone any place, and on line is no different. The guy you meet in the bar might be a felon, the woman you meet in church might be someone who winds up being mentally unstable...nothing in life is certain. But I've been extraordinarily lucky to have met some really great people on line, and ten years after first meeting my guy, I'm happy to say, we're still going strong.

I met a E-mail pal. It was a chance I took when answering her e-mail she sent me. She had read a guest book that had my address. Even though I am in my thirtys and she is in her sixties, we have alot in common. Also if I don't hear from her once a week she gave me a contact # for someone to check on her. The most interesting part is she was born in Austria as were my grandparents and both suffered the pain of WWII. She is German and my family is Jewish.

the net to me is a good tool that can browse news or search materials what i want to use, but it is a fictitious world and i never believe i will meet real and close friends on net. in fact, the crime rate on net are raising day and night. i only contact with acquaintance.i `v never heard anyone around me met partner who got married. in most case, look for someone for chat temporarily just for the sake of loneliness.

I have met several ppl thru the internet, and they are true friends. However, they are all ppl I met on small, invitation-only boards, and I didn't meet them alone--my husband was with me. They are all wonderful ppl, and we consider them family.

I agree that you should be cautious when meeting anyone on-line, as it's easy to be deceived. But there are fantastic ppl out there. You just have to be smart about who, when, where, and how.

I've met several ppl that I was close with online and ironically enough I'm no longer friends with any of them. People are not always what they appear to be in person. Especially after years of hiding behind a pc screen.
Becareful, but don't lose trust in people.
It's still possible to meet and become friends online.

Hi everyone. Yes I met several ppl on line in real life. In fact for 3 years one community that I chatted in would get together for a 4 day picnic in the summer. The chat room is no longer available and I miss them all. I later met my husband, July will be 4 years. Met in Oct of 2002, engaged Feb of 2003, moved in together on May 2003 and married July 2004. Yes it can be scary meeting ppl from online but there is something we used called "safe calls" that when we met anyone from online, someone would know where, who, when, and all info such at phone, car make and I would call them to let them know everything was fine. If you don't know someone in the town your going to meet someone, there is a website that offers safe call ppl all over the US. ~diamond~
