No self-respecting MST3K fan would fail to recognize that name! Troy McGreggor's (Christian Malcolm) triumphant return from the long lost land of the Ziox is finally upon us! Ok, so I've missed a few of his works since "The Final Sacrifice", but seeing him swim for his life in this episode was quite a surprise.
I thought the son (Christian Malcolm, the actor playing Blake Stanfield) looked unusually familiar while preparing the boat, though the recognition didn't 'click' until I saw him sputtering for breath shortly after one of the ice sheet scenes. Then the idea that it might *really* be him simply nagged at me for the remainder of the episode until the end credits confirmed my suspicions. Hell, for a few moments I even thought the actor playing Neil (the father) might actually be Zap Rowsdower himself, but alas he was not.
I did have a few questions about the shooting of this episode, although I don't really expect them to be answered. By comparison with his first role I NEVER would have expected to see Christian jump into a freezing river in Alaska of all places.
Were the river/swimming scenes shot on-site in Alaska or somewhere more convient - perhaps someplace closer to south-western Alberta?
Did he actually swim that swollen creek (the one mis-identified as a river), or simply jump-in from and climb-out onto the same bank with different camera angles?
Was that water really freezing?
And an off-topic question to Christian himself regarding "The Final Sacrifice": Why/how did that leather jacket get torn?
Alright, I figure thats enough rambling for one post. Check the following links IF YOU DARE!
