I haven't read it yet, but I will!
I love the idea that she is talking from her experiences, instead of studies and numbers.
Studies seem to be controlled and contrived. You can make numbers say whatever you like.
However, she is coming at it from what she has seen. I bet it's full of good advice, and debunks some myths people have...

My 13 year old is bugging me for the book. We just discovered Dr. G's show a few weeks ago. I hardly ever watch TV, but I've been watching now every time that Dr. G comes on.

I love Dr. G's new book too! I love the fact that she shares her cases with us, and I can remember watching some of those episodes she talks about. She provides us with information that we should all know about for our own Health I also love it when she shares stories about her own life -"like her son when he was 4 wondering into the morgue" That was cute!mini_drg that is funny about Ginny! I can only imagine how much she is getting teased! But most of all Thanks to DR. G for making such a great book your hard work is appreciated! Big Grin love Carolxo

I loved it! Big Grin I must share what happened to me when buying the book-- I already told Dr. G's son Alex and he passed it along to her-- she thought it was funny.

Anyway, I head into Borders on the 14th, excited to grab the book. I finally find it on a shelf with dozens of other newcomers in the non-fiction section. I finally saw the book-- the last book on the shelf. There was a woman to the left of me who I thought was looking at that book also. I saw her arm move and I reached out and snatched that book up in approx. .2 seconds. I didn't even realize I was doing it and the lady looked at me out of the corner of her eye like WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM?! Then she grabbed a totally non-relevant history book. I felt SO foolish as I realized I had temporarily regressed back to the kindergarten age. Anyway, I thought of how silly I must have looked as I headed to the register, assuring myself that it's not like it was the last book in the store. I'm sure there were BOXES full in back... well I was wrong. I told the woman at the cash register that I grabbed the last one from the shelf and that someone needed to re-stock it. She told me that they put the last ones out at 11:00 a.m. and that they wouldn't have any more until the next day. So I felt special Roll Eyes Immature, but special.

Alex told Dr. G and I guess she was pretty excited-- you have loads of fans here in good old Indiana! Razz

lol. I love the part where she talks about Alex wandering into the morgue. and later, when he was asking what his mom does for a living and he said, "she cuts off people's heads!!" rofl!!!
I was in the middle of study hall and when I read that part I laughed so hard, everyone looked at me like I was crazy! but it was hillarous!

I think it is very well written, and very informative, i never thought about what could happen driving woth the wondows half- rolled down. I guess i just never thought that you have a higher percentage of getting seriously injured. Some of the things that people don't get treatment for just surprises me, like the guy that fell on the table, and his hospital roomate though his ex- wife murdered him, when really he died from kidney disease. He refused treatment. I also never knew that it was thought that Dr. G had overian cancer. That has to be the worst thing ever, especially waitng for the results. So many people i know have had cancer. My friends mom died 5 months ago, my moms aunt died 3 months ago, and her my moms cousin died 2 months ago. This book is a wonder thing, because so many people will read it and learn from it. Thank you Dr. G for all your hard work, we all love you!!!!!!!!!!!! Big Grin

[There is alot I've learned about her from the book, that I didn't know before. like her son wondering into the morgue, backing into her husbands car once! lol. that she ha arthritic in her thumb, she avoids to making left turns in intersections. That her step son’s name is Luke (I knew she had a step son ,but nothing much about him). And that whole TERRIFYING page 36 were she leads you to think she has cancer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Omg! I practically had a heart attach reading that page!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!! And I’m not done with it yet cuz I wana pace myself so the fun lasts longer, ya know? So I bet there will be more to discover as I go on. ]

Did you send her your book and then ask her to send it back? I got my cousin a signed book when she came in from Italy. I took her down to Orlando and she got one. Congrats though! Smile

Bought the book 'How Not To Die' online a few weeks ago. Great so far. Need to find more time to sit down to read it but when I do, I can't put it down. It's very humanized. I feel like she's sitting across from me sharing her experiences. You read it and you don't feel like you're hearing from a medical examiner, but a real person just like you. I really like that. She is very down to earth.
