My question is why does the show have to blurr things out. You know you are watching a show on autopies so I don't see why they don't show the organs and what the body looks like when Dr G opens it up. So see real surgeries on Trauma Life in the Er so its kinda the same principle only they are passed away. I think one can learn a lot more if you can see the whole thing without the blurs.
I suggest that if you want to see real autopsies, you should go to school for it. You could learn a lot more working with the real thing if that's what you are interested in.
It it not due to the fact that it may be "disturbing" to some viewers. And if it were, I would tell those people to not watch the show. Organs and other camera images of actual bodies, not actors, are blurred out due to the Earnhardt Law. In 2001, Florida passed a law, known as the Earnhardt Family Protection Act. The bill, named for NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt, made autopsy photographs, video and audio recordings confidential. Violators could be charged with a third degree felony that could be punishable by jail time and up to a $5,000 fine.
That would make a lot of sense, Dr. carol. Also, if it really were about blurring it for the squeamish, then they would probably have it unblurred late at night, so the squeamish wouldn't have to see it during the day. Just a thought.
