I just watched the episode in which Dr. G and Dr. Wallace married. I had seen it before however since I'm a fan and it was on the dvr I watched again.
I noticed as Dr. G was kind of relaying her feeling or thoughts on the wedding she said something along the lines that Dr. Wallace had proposed to her 20 something odd years (i don't remember the exact number) but I'm guessing due to career reasons she declined. Well here is my hypothesis on why she declined the proposal the first time around....
I'm a huge believer in there is a reason for everything. I know even with forensics and whatnot there is usually a scientific reason but I believe in a higher power and I believe that higher power dictates why certain things happen.
With that said, I can't help but wonder if the reason the higher power took control over this love 20 something years ago was so that she would have her two handsome and beautiful sons that she has. Imo I would have to say that's probably the reason the higher power took over at that time. Although I'm sure she, just like the average Joe, had a really painful and hard time thru her divorce. In the end, she married the love of her life and has her two wonderful kids as well.
Which had she married Dr. Wallace 20 something years ago, would the latter had happened? Maybe but they would not have been the same children she has now.
