I'm not sure how to e mail Dr. G but really need to ask questions. My brother and only sibling died of a drug overdose last year. He was 31 years old. I need to how I can be sure it was in fact an overdose. His liver weighed 2,170 grams is that large? His heart was 450 gms. Was it enlarged like they said? Please tell me how to email you...I have many questions.
I am NOT Dr. G, but I might be able to answer your question. I am a tech who assists pathologists with autopsies. Your brothers heart and liver are larger than average - those weights are considered "enlarged"... As for the overdose, the doctor who did the autopsy would have likely ordered toxicology tests on your brothers blood and/or vitrious to determine drug levels in his system. You (or the next of kin) should be able to obtain a copy of the autopsy protocal and it should state the tox report. Tox tests are standard protocal in most cases unless it's an obvious natural death such as an embolism or burst aneurysm, or the like. Contact the office who handled your brother's case and ask how you can obtain the report and then you should have the answers you seek.
