I guess we can assume your survival advice would be, for the person to eat a meal of pig, then throw the remaining 200lb carcass over their shoulder and continue their trek to safety.

You mean like he essentially tried to do the week before with the reindeer? No, that would not be my advice; in fact I argued that it was absurd for him to attempt it in another post so I’m not sure why you would assume that would be my advice. At least we can agree that Bear attempting to drag around an entire carcass was ridiculous. As for your assumption, all I said was that animals are wasted on the show. As a life long hunter, I’ll admit that it does bother me. If actually useful survival advice was being given I could look past it but that just isn’t the case. Finding, tracking and catching a wild hog would be useful; what Bear did was kill a hog that had been given to him by a local. Just like the ridiculous “snares” he “demonstrated” with the reindeer the week before, which was also provided to him by a local, nothing useful or even realistic was demonstrated. To his credit, Bear did show us how to dispatch both of these animals humanely, but what value does this info have in a survival situation? I’d say very little. Sure you always want to kill animals as humanely as possible but if your life is on the line you are going to do whatever you need to do whether it is humane or not. Again, it is the tracking and capturing of wild animals that would be beneficial information. Having a domestic animal given to you is just not something that’s going to happen in a survival situation so the killing is obviously just done for its shock factor.

I couldn't agree more with you! It is completely unnecessary for this show especially since Bear isn't really out there "surviving". He is presented with different obstacles and while I respect what he does, I do not want to see animals killed for absolutely no reason. Just stick to eating the bugs, thanks.

as a survival trainee i can and will say what hes doing is accurate and educational and hes quite skilled at it. if its beyond belief for you or revolting or whatever just change the channel and pick up another big mac. nobody is forcing you to watch anything. if you think what hes doing is bad try learning about the real world around you for a change. what you eat every single day suffered a far worse fate than anything you have seen on this show. i would prefer being born free and suffering death at the hands of a predator rather than being born and raised in a cell not big enough for my hair to stand up in then graduating on to a conveyor belt to mcdonalds to feed your chubby offspring. the fans of this show are interested in extreme circumstances which almost nobody is ever trained or prepared for, so as someone that has been on an island with 10 idiots that dont know the first thing about living in the wild or what you can or cannot eat i think this show is a blessing. the things your complaining about are faddish. the things hes showing you for the most part are timeless and have been around since before we were walking upright, the only major difference is now we have a medium through which masses of interested parties can learn, appreciate, or just watch for shock value. so get a life and change the channel you hate monger.
ps. sears and pizza hut wont be around forever
