First of all, what real drama is in the outcome of these supposed "dangerous explorations" when the guy is NARRATING the program in the first place? Obviously he survived the con- trived scenarios set-up by the producers. Re.: the Borneo jungle episode, the slide down the 40' waterfall was all very dangerous and suspenseful, until he got to the bottom and...who was already there waiting for him? The camera crew. (Basically, that was about as adventurous as going to your typical neighborhood waterslide park!) And killing an animal--be it mammal, reptile, bird, or insect--just because you can? That's not very "eco-friendly", to say the least. You want a genuine adventure-travel show with a host with real "balls", then just strap a helmet-cam to his/her head and let him/her do all of their own shooting, editing, and narrating...No production crew of 10-20 standing around lending a hand (and doing much of the real work). Say, is Vince McMahon Executive Producer of this crap? After all, it's about as "legit" as wrestling!
Did you really think there was a possibility of him not making out alive during the filming of these shows? If you did, you are probably the only one who thinks that. The show is to provide tips for survival, entertainment, and the chance to show people what some of the more interesting, remote tourist attractions in the world are like.

My, my...did I touch a nerve? Either you're one of those people whose identity is tied-in with a TV program, or you're one of the many production assistants, etc. My issue is, this is presented as a "reality show" and the host is some supposed tough guy. But as you just admitted yourself, it's all a sham. Again, if he really wants to prove himself, let him go out in the "wild" with all the recording equipment he may need, but no helpers. About as "sporting" as the big, brave hunters who shoot game from helicopters. And if you take this all personally, you should perhaps examine YOUR life, or lack thereof.
