I understand that Vets will not respond to this form. But maybe some will read this and be able to help us or point us in the right direction. My husband and I are both serve in the Air Force for 10 years and we're stationed in Japan. We had to leave our two rotts girls behind; at my brother-in-law’s.
Nebie she was born Nov 10, 1999. She's was my first puppy. In 2004 she stared having issues with her legs. I took her to the Docs and she had surgery in both her hind leg/keens. She recovered well.
Earlier in the year my family told us that Nebie has been having pain getting up, it's hard for to go on walks, and she bite my other girl when she walked by. (She’s in pain and she thought Deaisia caused it.) They told us that we need to put her down. When I flew back to the states on leave, I went to pick her up for Doctors visit. She was the same lovely Nebie that she's always been. Yes you can tell that she in some pain, but she's happy. Not a dog that's on her death bed. X-rays confirmed it. The Doctor told me that the surgery needs to be redone, but other than that she's a heath dog.
Here's the issue my brother in law is married, two year old boy and another one on the way and works 12 hours a day. Nebie has to have the surgery on both her legs separately. After the first one she has to stay off her feet for four weeks and then same thing for the second one. I don't know anyone that can take care of her after the surgery. If I do the surgery in the states it's cost about $4,000, if I have it done in Japan; flying her $2,000 and then about $6,000 to $8,000 dollars. Everyone is telling to put her down that's it's too much money.
To me she has two broken legs that can be fixed, not cancer. Not something that can't be fixed. I can't see putting down my good health girl. Am I being selfish? Can anyone offer some advice or some where I can take her? There's more to this story, let me if you want to know more. Please help...
