Does mexican coca cola taste better "myth" according to this article in the NYtimes http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10...consumed-t.html?_r=1there might be a taste difference because of using cane sugar rather then high fructose corn syrop or it has to do with bottling in glass rather then plastic or can. With glass being one of the most inert materials and not reacting with the cola which is a rather aggresive fluid.

I know this for a fact as I used to live in San Diego. Yes it does have a different taste than American Coke but I think it has to do with their water to be honest with you.

So you want them to come up with conclusive evidence based on personal opinion? I think the Times article is more reliable, being as it deals with opinion rather than fact.

I think it may be due to the use of sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. Locations where sugar cane is plentiful will most likely use sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup.

Good cooks know the difference between cane sugar and that made from sugar beets. Corn syrup is entirely different. The myth I would like to see tested is that Coke tastes exactly the same anywhere despite the many bottling plants. Apparently Coke has two recipes, one for places that insist on cane sugar and one for everyone else.
Lets leave out the cane sugar coke and test Coke from say Fargo, Denver, Atlanta, London, Moscow. You get the idea. And what about diet Coke?
