HI everyone!~ I have decided that it is PAST time to purchase some new solid (or maybe slight pattern) shirts to go with all my new skirts and pants. The first one should be a crisp white shirt. I LOVE the look of the sleeves rolled up or the shirt under a great sweater.....however, I am having the WORST time trying to find a nice cotton long sleeve shirt that isn't ruffled on the front, isn't TOO short, or doesn't have a ton of spandex in it. Does anyone know where I might find this "perfect shirt of my dreams"???? I plan to wear the shirts untucked. Thanks a bunch for any help you can give me...
I have INCs with long pleated fronts, a subtle black and gold V stripe, and a really long tunic effect that covers, well, you know. I get mine at Bloomie's (they don't carry INC on line); I order online from Macy's.
But, if that doesn't work for you, I have had, in the past, great white (and pastel) shirts from Lands End. Their cotton oxford weave is not quite as "crisp" looking, but really, it does the job; there are many other fabrics, too. And, for real length, I have to admit to buying men's in a small size. You can comfortably sit on the shirt tails. They can be tapered by the tailor, if need be. Since the cloth from Land's End wears like iron, it's worth the money; I've also had them shortened just a tad, as well.
I'll 2nd the vote for Land's End. If you have money, you can spring for Thomas Pink online. They have a variety of fitted shirts for women, some loose and some tight. Best quality I ever had. I've also had good luck with Victoria's Secret online.
Thanks for the info. I have gone to macy's online as well as the other places mentioned. I didn't mean to imply that I didnt like the stretch shirts, just not a TON of stretchiness to it. does that make sense? The places I have looked had some great shirts with the stretch to it but nothing in solid white. The white ones I have seen have had TOO much stretch to it and it just hugged all the WRONG places. I do like the ones I have seen today. I had not thought about men's shirts for the length. That's a great idea. Thanks again for all your help~~~ You guys are great!!!
Just got two shirts at Eddie Bauer - one white and one striped, that are great. They are wrinkle resistant, but not spandex. I travel, so they just need a slight touch up (as opposed to a beautiful white shirt I got at TJ Maxx, but which wrinkles as soon as I put it on..)
