Hi, I'm new here and have been loving going back to the "what I'm wearing today" threads. I started this new one just for ease since the older ones have gotten so long. I hope that's ok. Confused

Anyways, here's what I wore today going to a training at work (I'm a teacher and we're "off" for another week, but had this optional training). I got both top and skirt at Wal Mart, and the shoes at Target. Necklace was from New York & Co. I had to roll the shirt under since it was too long. I'll be getting it hemmed - along with about 3 other shirts! lol Soooo, opinions? Suggestions? Thanks! I'll try to keep this up for a few days! It'll be harder once school starts, though. Frown

I'm a teacher too and I'm sooo not in the greatest mood about going back to work. We are so spoiled with our 3 month vacation...so i guess I can't complain! Roll Eyes

I personally love the outfit! The skirt is a great length, I like the colorful pattern, fun shoes...very nice. I wish I could wear a shirt like that...I hate my arms. (ugh!) I would need to wear a cardigan or maybe a jean jacket over it just to feel comfortable. I look forward to seeing more of your outfits! I hope you have a great school year! Smile

thanks, sdf0922. my arms and calves are the two most favorite parts of my body, so I love showing them. Smile Didn't used to be that way, though. After children, I lost 50 pounds and have been a gym junkie. lol

What grade to you teach? I teach Kdg. LOVE IT! I also teach weight loss classes to adults with a major company, so BOTH my jobs are teaching. Hmmm, must be my calling. LOL

Cardigans or sweaters - even short sleeved ones-can be wonderful for covering the part of your arms you're uncomfortable with and still make an outfit super cute and "polished" looking. Smile

This is the second time this week that someone has tried to start a new "what I'm wearing today" thread. Not to be the grumpy old board mother or anything Wink , but it is a tradition here to have long running threads. In fact, "back in the day" they used to verbally flog people for not looking up old threads and posting on them instead of starting new threads. In fact, they sometimes still do....

Actually I was thinking that the old "what I'm wearing" thread was getting long, but I completely missed the other attempt to start a new one, so I'll use this one.

To work today I wore a floral print A-line skirt (pinks on cream) with a brown knit top that is gathered along the scoop neck so it skims over the middle bits nicely and tan and brown wedges sandals.

Yesterday I wore a brown cotton french lace skirt with a yellow knit top and light brown wedge sandals.

your ensemble is lovely! great colors on you. i can also see it with strappy sandals (not for school, of course!) or some gray peeptoes in patent leather and a thin belt. (hooked on those, i know, i better just GET me one!) Wink
congratulations on your weightloss and teaching others to be healthy. i'm also into exercise, although i run outdoors and do pilates and weights at home.
there's always time to start doing something healthy no matter how old we are! (i was 38 when i started)
have a great day!

Well, ntuitive1, consider me promptly "flogged" by you. Wink I did look back at BOTH what I'm wearing today threads previous to starting a new one. Just seemed quite cumbersome to scroll through so many pages. On other message boards I belong to it's common practice to split threads that got quite lengthy. Please forgive this "newbie". Frown

That said....
Here's today 8/16. First photo is what I wore to my weight loss job. Shirt and shirt- Kohls, necklace - Target.
2nd photo was ready to head out for errands, not my best look, but functional and slightly more attractive than bulky T and sweats which used to be my "uniform" lol - tan shorts - George from WalMart, ribbed lace v-neck tank - Sears, sandals - ANCIENT lol My jewelry is Cookie Lee
And, MAN, it's hard to photograph oneself! lol

kindermouse, you are too cute. LOVE your jewelry, and I confess that I still go to the grocery store in a t-shirt & without makeup at times, so your outfit is about 3 steps up Smile The only thing I would do different is to put a wee bit fancier shoe (like a patent leather peep toe rather than the white sandals) with the first outfit, since that shirt is so gorgeous. Congrats on your weightloss!

kindermouse, the pink top is great, and so is the color, i would wear it with long hem pant instead, (to even out the torso) it makes your torso longer while the skirt cuts the leg line and it shortens your leg line, and you have great gams, as proven on the first photo you posted. have you tried the skirt with a shorter blouse/top to accentuate your curves?

Thanks, shoediva. I have only recently started experimenting with jewelry, so i'm still having fun with it, but cautious at the same time. lol

I NEED a fancier shoe to go with that skirt. I'd love a black or navy peep toe. Haven't found one I like/can afford that I like yet. Hehehehe. My hubby says I have too many shoes (and I do have about 50...), but there's NEVER enough for "just that right look" every time, ya know? hehehe And, those white shoes are my favorite fallback. Unfortunately it's almost time for them to head to the dumpster cuz they're starting to show the love. Frown

ilibaby, I usually would wear the top with a long straight-leg pant and heels, but it's 95 here right now.... didn't feel like pants. Wink It's funny about the shirt being too long, though. I originally had on another shirt and changed because it was way too long. It's now in the "to be hemmed" pile. Since my torso is short, I often have a rather BIG 'to be hemmed' pile. Wink Next time, i'll choose a shorter shirt, cuz I do see how you're right there. Thanks, guys!

you know how it is, i also worry about that issue being 5' and an hourglass, one of the most important fit decisions is making sure my legs look longer and my waist is not obscured (heh, except when i wear my maxis) ;p
today i wore my knee-length pineapple halter dress:

with these yellow slingbacks:
http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o213/ileana65/accesories/028.jpg
black oversize sunglasses, hair in parted in middle ponytail with bangs and this ring:
(silver) on my index finger.

ili, those shoes are so great, and I love the scarf. Again, that's something I haven't ventured into (of course, here in San Diego, it's hard to be willing to add accessories that'll warm you up! lol Too warm most of the time. BUT.... winter does get chillier (ohhh, a whole maybe 50 degrees COLD. we're so tortured here. hehehe).

Ok, here's today.
Dress - navy polka dot cumberbund waist (first time I've ever worn it, though I've had it about 3 months... still dealing with the self-conscience thing... and I felt it was too small), and I think I bought it at Sears?
shoes - white sandal just from Payless
green cami
gold necklace from Target
That was for church.

Then, just for doing nothing the rest of the day - a rule breaker pair of capris! lol
Capris - levis cuffed capris (bought for $12 at Costco)
black T - I like the neckline of it and the slight roushing (Sp?) on the sleeves, though none of that showed up well in the pict
sliver sandals bought at a cute little boutique
gold custom made necklace ("missing link heart" necklace made for women who've lost a child...)

Today I wore the shirt below (although it is shorter and much prettier than it looks in this picture)with jeans and wooden wedges. Hair had poof at top and was in a pony
http://www3.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?DeptID=50434&CatID...Id=50434|50435|51156

I feel wierd wearing accessories to school during the day, except for maybe a pair of earings. Is that crazy? I love wearing bold accessories to work and going out at night, but I feel like it's too done up for campus (maybe its b/c t-shirts reign supreme?)

I like the colors in that shirt! I bet it looked great w/ the jeans. I hear what you're saying about not wearing too many accessories to school. Being a teacher of Kindergartners, I tend to only wear earrings and maybe a small chain necklace, and I don't dress as nice, since we paint often, or do other such messy activities. lol It's great that I have 2 jobs and I can really dress it all up at the other one. Smile
shoedive, ya know... thinking, you can go with the whole t-shirt trend at school, just make the t-shirts "nicer ones". Just a thought.

Kindermouse, I took your advice Wink I wore a "nicer" t-shirt like shirt today (black cami underneath), with some Ann Taylor jeans I had scored for $20 and silver glitter ballet flats:
http://www.nyandcompany.com/nyco/browse/product_detail_...2&subcatId=cat350010

P.S., Ilibaby, I did not notice your pic of your black dress before, and I can't decide what I like more, your outfit or your beautiful house Smile LOVE how you used the scarf...do you have to pin it? You look classic, like Audrey Hepburn.

i missed this thread as well, all weekend i had trouble with the site. i would try to answer and then i couldn't access the site for hours. (?)

oh man~thank you kindermouse and shoediva! Smile that is just a simple scarf that i folded and tucked to keep in place, i wanted to have some of "my colors" near my face, black can wash me out sometimes, and i had never used it except for hair accesory. ( either thread it through a ponytail or as a headband). the dress is 2 years old, i wore it to death that first summer and last year it took a breather as i wore my polka dots and maxis, so it was nice to wear it again. last time it was with new gold wedges with cork heel and i chose one of my summer 2008 shoes.
and yes, darn it, my passion for unusual color mixes extends to my home! ;p

i soooo agree with shoediva's comment about casual being harder. it really is. when i read on trinny and susanah's (or was it the science of sexy?) that women with an hourglass figure have the hardest time with casual (rather than dressy) i felt so validated. that was the story of my life and one of the reasons why i don't do that much, it is harder for me to look good in casual. and the thing is shapes vary so much even within the hourglass range that i see women get away with outfits (like kindermouse) that i couldn't attempt~ ;p

I love that nice T, shoediva! It's really nice, and I may even have to order one myself - of course, I imagine it'll be in my "to be hemmed pile". Time to take that in now. I have enough to take all at once to the tailor. LOL

ili, I also had some trouble getting on the site. Kept saying the reply option wasn't available. odd. But, glad to get back on now. Smile

Casual look - I think I've worked harder on that cuz it's how I "need" to dress for teaching kindergarten - we do a lot of messy things, so I tend to go for pieces that won't get cut, glued, painted on, etc and make me distraught that it was ruined. LOL It's "dressy casual". Smile harder to look good in casual. And, to be perfectly honest, I only RECENTLY got better at it! Before wntw, I wore stuff that truly was UNFLATTERING. Yikes~! Once I started paying attention, I found it easiest to turn around that end of my wardrobe because I could find "cheaper" pieces easier.

btw - the white shorts were from Old Navy, and I had a friend hem them about 3 inches for me. They were originally more like capris. Too tapered for that, so I 'TOOK CONTROL" of my clothing as S&C always say to do. Wink I'm very hourglass, too, and being soooo short waisted, it's harder to find things that don't make me look like all b00b and rearend. hehe Fortunately I LOVE trying on clothes!! LOVE IT! I tend to try on like 10-15 things each time I shop at LEAST and then buy 1-2 if anything.

ili - how tall are you?

ugh, in my case would eat up my long posts and then no access for hours. this was both saturday and sunday.

my go to casual outfit is the cotton maxi dress. i have...about 10 of them? 12? and i put them on and go!...gosh that is such a lifesaver, i don't have to compromise on either look or comfort. loveth it! Wink

i am 5' even. ;p

I love this board!

Ili - you did look smashing in the black dress!!! Love it!

Kinder - I liked the white shorts/blue shirt combo too! Perfect casual!

Today - I would post pictures but I haven't cleaned out the camera and it would take forever to load...

Short white eyelet dress, black/white gingham slingback wedges/espadrilles.. Silver necklace with blue beads, silver ball earrings, and a huge fabulous gray bag with white piping.

Not my best - but certainly not my worst. I just felt bad for the dress since it won't come out of the closet in 2 weeks for another year...it deserved to be worn haha!

Have a good day ladies!

Okay, this is my first pic. post attempt:
http://s485.photobucket.com/albums/rr217/shoediva84/?ac....jpg&t=1219255900219

I realize the angle is not good and makes me look rather gigantic, but it's difficult to do the self timer thing AND try to cut off your head! Looking at the pics, I think my jeans look a bit big. Maybe the wide legs don't flatter me as much as I thought? Any suggestions are appreciated.

Cute outfit! About the jeans, I wonder if they need to be a size smaller maybe?? As helpful as the "rules" are in terms of what shapes to buy, I think they don't always work. I wear lots of things that aren't "supposed" to work for me, but they do. It taken me a lot of trial and error and posting LOTS of pics on this board. Big Grin

shoediva, I think photobucket lets you crop images. That way you can take out your head later on and not worry about messing with the camera.

welcome to photo posting shoediva!!! Wink
yayyy!!!
a friend of mine who is a professional photographer recommends placing the self timer camera at hip level for best results. trust me, big difference!
i don't think the jeans are too big, but i would wear them longer...(this could be shortie talk of course! ;p) so they cover the shoe and just a little peeps out. and by the way, take off those shoes! i want them for meeeee! ;p

moonlady, great silhouette on that. super duper pants! the colors on the top look really nice on you, too.

shoediva, cute outfit, but i do agree that the jeans could be a bit smaller. They are nice, though. I'd be curious to see the outfit w/o the jacket. the top looked so cute. And, yes, you can crop your head off in photobucket. Smile

moonlady, nice outfit! Those pants are great. Make you look tall and leggy. Being 5'2" I could use help in that dept. lol And i love the necklace.

I admit to being a little lost on the board with 'bad gateway' preventing viewing for the past while. Seems better now but it's been hard to catch up.

Shoediva, I like the outfit. If I had to make a suggestion I would say that it looks like the shoe was supposed to be the pop of colour in the outfit? If so, I think it would be better with yellow or red because the turquoise is 'ok' but I think yellow or red would really amp things up!

Someone had a white shorts and white top with a blue vest thing. That was really nice and the persons hair looked really nice.

themoonlady, I really like that outfit. It's breezy yet casual and elegant.

Somewhere Ilibaby had a pineapple top on. I lurved the pineapple top! I wear big sunglasses too.

Better post before I lose connection - another recurring problem!

lol at my hair looking nice in the white shorts pict. It's actually just pulled back into 2 big clamp like clips into little "buns" so that when I took it down it'd have some wave. I did that again today and my hubby said, "Hon, I just don't really like your hair that way." LOL I do wear it up often enough - especially in the heat here, or when I've been too tired to wash it and it's on the verge of needing a wash but still ok - it goes up wonderfully when it's that way! Usually up into one clip then, though, not 2 little rolls. Smile

Goodmorning!!! Today is a consultation with a new client - I was going to wear a skirt - I ironed it and everything - just wasn't feeling it...so...

http://picasaweb.google.com/meghan.rumer/MeghanA/photo#5236947418055355986

High waisted wide leg jeans, chunky black belt (pure function but I like it too), white button down, red bead necklace doubled on itself, and black canvas peeptoe wedges..

Seriously - I love this board!! (and before yal think I'm crazy -) there are days when I don't see anyone who cares a lick about what I'm wearing or fashion, actually most days..and my friends all live far away - so that's why this is so fun for me...

Y'all have a good Thursday!

Meghan, the white dress is lovely! The pants from today give you mile long legs. I know how you feel, none of my friends/family are into fashion - AT ALL!

When I left the house today, I thought this outfit was 'ok'. As I was running around taking care of business, I began to feel that this was possibly the worst outfit I've ever put together. I've posted a photo below as a reminder of a 'don't do!'. P.S. It's a top and skirt. The photo makes it look like it could be a dress. Sorry for the blur - photographer 'flashed and dashed' again!

I agree w/ anners that the shirt is just too long. It'd be cute shorter. Love the print!

Ok, here're a couple bleck outfits, again, just mostly bummin' around the house, though in the denim and red I did go to the mall.
Here's Wed. Red v-neck w/ gathering at the V, and a total rule-breaker shaggy denim skirt!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v260/kindermouse/wntw..._08RedTdenimSkrt.jpg

And today's brown polka-dots w/ tan pin striped shorts w/ (dare I say it????) a slightly heeled flip-flop! (not platform! but about a 1 iinch tich heel)hehe I will say, I never left the house until work tonight.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v260/kindermouse/wntw...rPolkaTanPinShrt.jpg

And, here is my work outfit - Ann Taylor top, skirt from Ross years ago, silver peep-toe slingbacks from Kohl's. Silver necklace from NY&C, earrings - walmart!

kindermouse: skirts like that last one and heels are your friend! ;p
that last outfit was amazing on you.

meghan, again, i love that you're a fashion chameleon! i never know what you're going to wear, LOL i LOVE that.

zee: hi girlie, i looked and looked at the photo and the first thing that popped out was that the shoe was wrong for the outfit. it wasn't so much the top of the outfit (for me anyway) as much as the fact that the sandal was too dainty and too much of the foot was exposed. this is why i never recommend a thong type sandal, to me they rarely look like it's enough of a shoe or fancy enough to make an impact on the outfit. the shades are fab! so are your bangs and layered haircut.

MeghanR- LOVE today's outfit! Do you work in interior design? I noticed all the sample color chips behind you. Smile Love the necklace. Maybe I should try that look out. I have been awol for a bit, but I swear I posted on this thread a couple of days ago and it is not here. Anyway, I'm enjoying checking out everyone's looks and I will try to make comments and post some more of my stuff when I have time. This is so much fun.

Y'all were so cute this weekend and today!! I looked like a disaster this weekend - we worked on the house - no one wants to see me looking like a hot mess..

I was super cute at work today but forgot to take a pic: Gray slightly off shoulder dress, Green slingbacks, and a chunky navy necklace. Too bad I forgot the pic - even my hubby loved it!
