Kindermouse, you look gorgeous! I especially love that orange dress, and I'm incredibly jealous that you can pull such a fun, retro look off! BTW, I've noticed that you have really stepped up the shoes lately. Kudos!

Love that shade of blue on you Kinder! You're looking great!!

I've been chained to my desk the last few days, but I'm going out to tomorrow to buy a printer, go to lunch, and get groceries...so hopefully, I'll have something to post!

Kinder, that convertible is fabulous! I'm sure it'll continue to be a 'go-to' item!!

I'm on a roll with posting outfits (actually it's because the kids are on spring break so I've been able to coerce someone into taking a picture every day!).

Nothing special today. Brown boots and slacks. Blue tank top with brown/blue/beige/white blazer thing.

Kinder, that blue dress looks great. I agree that the dress is your best look. The red is very nice too.

Agnies, you look terrific in the pencil skirt. Great, simple outfit. I wish I could wear a pencil and look like that.

Zebra, nice outfit. Its getting hard to build any kind of enthusiasm these days. Snow in April is hard to take.

Cheryle, I know what you mean. I thought the snow would be thick and heavy on the ground all day yesterday so I wore pants. By the end of the day I thought my pants were almost goners because I ended up running around town and there were slush puddles up to my ankles everywhere. My pants were soaked.

I have no enthusiasm to put together a look for today. It's cloudy and dreary but I will probably wear a skirt to save pants from slush, salt, sand, water...

Zebra, those pants look fantastic on you!

Agnieska, love the polka dot blouse and retro feel of your outfit!

Here's my outfit for today:

It has b*o*ning that I sort of pushed together when I took the picture, but otherwise, it lies nice and flat. Smile

Oh that's too bad! I love that top! Have you seen the movie "Role Models"? The girlfriend/lawyer in it has a top almost exactly like that in the movie and I thought to myself, could I get away with wearing something like that to work cuz it's HOT!
Here's me today...if I wouldn't have cropped off my head you could tell I feel kinda indifferent about it. I don't hate it, but I definately don't love it. I wanted to wear a dress but my tights weren't dry enough, and it's too chilly to wear bare legs. I think the necklace and shoes at least add something to it, and I guess it's better than a hooded sweatshirt:

Shoediva, I don't think your doggie loves the outfit either. Look at that face! I don't hate the outfit either, but imo it's not as great as some of the perfect outfits you've posted, which is probably why you feel "blah" about it.

I loved that shirt and today was going to be its inaugural wearing, but when I removed it from the hanger, I noticed a frayed seem. So I took a closer look at the seaming around the collar of the shirt, and it was coming apart in some places. It retails for $70 (I got it for $50), so I expected WAY better quality, especially because it's from the INC line at Macy's. I'll tell ya, the more I shop at Jcrew, the higher a standard I'm holding everyone else up to.

So, I improvised and wore this instead:

Lol, yeah my baby always looks sad cuz he's got sad eyes. But the outfit is kinda sad too, hehe. I think a jacket might help it, but it's just kind of a boring tee shirt. I keep it around for uber casual days, but how can a gal get all that excited about a tee shirt? Come on J-Crew, get my new dress here and save me from fashion boredom!

agnies, I'll say it again, we have the same kind of style! I love your outfit! I've been looking at that top on the VS website for quite a while now but the arms look tight. Are they?

siepres, too bad that top needs returning. I've wanted to try that style but never have. It looked great on you! Your improvisation outfit is, like usual, Perfect!

shoediva, I know how you feel, I felt totally indifferent about my outfit today too. It was what it was!! (It was a skirt to save pants from slush, water, sand and salt)

He is a she -- named Buffy! She is an Australian Shepherd mixed with a small spitz of some kind (the experts say probably a Shiba Inu). She is a rescue from a high-kill shelter in Fresno, CA (where they put 30,000 animals to sleep in an average year -- yes, that's 30 thousand!). I found her over the Internet through a local rescue society that brings up small-medium sized dogs from high-kill areas in the U.S. to Canada. We have relatively few dogs for adoption in Canada, and almost none in my area because of successful spaying/neutering programs for the past 20 years. So we have to bring them in from elsewhere, and I waited 6 weeks for her (3 years ago). She may have come from a puppy mill, but because of the large number of animals in the shelter, they don't keep records so there is no way to know where she came from. I just know that a volunteer was about to put her to sleep and couldn't do it because she was so sweet. The volunteer called a non-kill rescue nearby and asked if they could pick her up within the hour or it would be too late. Thank goodness they did. She is my best friend and running partner.

agnes, I didn't even see your outfit. Love the retro vibe you have going on! Zebra, don't you dare compare my blah tshirt and jeans to your fabulous button down, tweed skirt, and tights! That is a wonderful outfit, lady! It's just winter-y and not spring-y. I'll bet that's why you're not loving it. But if you switch out the tweed skirt and put on those pink gladiator sandals, I'll bet you will be singing a different tune Wink

Sorry Shoediva, but I agree the outfit was okay but not up to your new usual standard.

Zebra, I think your outfit is nice. I also think I have the same tights. The Bay right? I'm wondering if you would have been happier with the outfit if you had added a colorful necklace or shoes to punch it up. I think it looked very nice the way it was but feel a need for a bit of color these days.

Thanks ladies! Zebra, it's a great style, and I highly recommend it (the style) to everyone. I think it would flatter a range of body types, but the seaming was literally coming undone near the collar. And for $50, I expect a little more quality, especially from INC.

Also, Z, I LOVE that necklace. It's gorgeous!! I think your outfit is great, but maybe Cheryl's right that the lack of color is what's making you feel like it wasn't perfect. Love the hair, btw. Hopefully, I'm getting mine cut into something similar very soon.

This is a tough time of year to dress for. Lately it has been cloudy and dreary and most of all wet and slushy and dirty.

Today's outfit ended up starting with the shoes (waterproof) and the skirt (to save pants from slush) then the rest just happened. (Although I was kind of proud of the belt to cover the waist of the skirt where the shirt is tucked in - that was new for me).

It sure would be nice to add a punch of colour but it doesn't seem like 'punch of colour' weather yet so the outfit(s) are monotone and borderline drab until the streets dry up!

Yes, the tights are from The Bay. I get all my tights there. These were the last clean pair of black tights so there was no other option today (hey! that reminds me, I better do laundry!)

Someone recently talked about micro-fishnet tights. Ummmm....errrrr....I hate to ask this, but what are those? Where do you buy them? Is that what should be worn with spring skirts/dresses until it's b@re leg season?
I was in Wal-Mart a couple of nights ago looking for them but couldn't find any. Do they come in nylon packaging or the cardboard around them like tights are packaged? Help!!

Zebra, some microfishnets:

http://www.mytights.com/mytights/3995.html

I have a pair in beige from Hue that have lasted me for like 5 months maybe. I adore them. They're not as binding as hose/tights, so I tend to wear them very often. They also give legs a little color and smooth imperfections without that shiny quality. Here's a pic where I'm wearing them:

http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/88/l_3af6a6...bc47c7e9127e5194.jpg

See how sheer and invisible they are? LOVE THEM!

Oh, I so agree it's a hard time of year to dress for. We had a couple near-60 days a week or two ago, and once I put my winter coat away I hate to have to break it out again but it's dipped down quite low (low 30s) again. But mostly it's been trenches and umbrellas for me lately.
Thanks everyone for the compliments! Zebra, usually the XS size in VS tops is too tight on me, but this time the S was too loose/not fitted enough, so had to exchange it. As for the arms--mine are rather skinny/lanky, so I wouldn't say the sleeves are too tight. I tried it on--I can fit my 3 middle fingers in between the band of the sleeve and my skin. You just push it up to get that nice fitted look like on the model. P.S. the material doesn't look quite as lustrous as it does in the listing photo but it does have a subtle sheen.
P.S. love the mod feel of your outfit today, with the circular necklace and chevron tights. Lots of interesting texture there, which is great for a b/w look.

oh my gosh! i leave for one day and this place is slammin'!
shoedivagirlie, i LIKE your outfit. floaty, fun. the jeans are a great fit, the shoes kick pompi and the color of the blouse is sublime for you. like that old commercial used to jingle: sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't~it can't *always* be mad men dresses, right?! Smile your casual outfit is heads above the rest. had you worn it with trainers i would be like 'wellll...', but with those snakeskin shoes? baby, all is GOOD. Smile

zee, whatchatalkin'boutwillis? i loved your outfit, your dark hair~i wouldn't change a thing. those tights are hot, and the belt looks fantastic. it looks like you're enjoying belts, aren't they great fun? they add so much to ensembles!

siepres, you've found your formula~you've unlocked the magic, and you're a postergirl for the Pres method of wearing current styles and creating perfect outfits without having a housefull of closets jammed packed with 'stuff'. you know of course it's only a matter of time before i make those nude shoes my own, right? I love what I see, ladies. siepres, it really is too bad that top was damaged. It looked good on you.

Ilibaby and Shoediva, you have both enabled me many times in the past, so you know what? Deal with it! :P Those BR are very comfy, btw. I am very impressed and will now be watching what BR has to offer in their shoe department each season. I'm still interested in trying JCrew shoes too, but I'd like to be able to see them in person first.

Purdue, I love those giraffe print shoes! They look so fabulous.

Shoediva, your jeans and pink shirt were typical of my days. lol It looked "fine" with nothing wrong with it. We all do that! (at least I know I do!)
Zebra - I love love love that necklace!!! I also really like the darker shorter hair on you! Nice.

Accessories... you've seen mine, too! One black pug named Kisses and one fawn pug named Hugs.... named after Hershey's kisses of course! They are like attached to me most of the time. hehe. In fact, usually the black one is in my lap when I'm on the computer. Smile

Here's what I am wearing to dance tonight, but - of course - with my black cowboy boots! This here is how I'd wear the outfit anywhere else but dancing.

purdue, blue and brown with silver jewellery is one of my favourite combo's.

kindermouse, I think the outfit you posted is a perfect example of 'perfect belt use'. I REALLY LIKE that belt.

Yes, siepres, thanks for the tights info! When I opened the link I ran to my tights drawer because I thought I might have a pair! I have two!
I have a pair in brown (never worn) and a pair in slate blue (with a 'fancier pattern' but I think still qualifies as micro-fishnet - also never worn).
I think I picked them up when I blew through a hosiery department one day looking for a bunch of variety in tights. I guess I've never worn them because they didn't seem warm enough but maybe they are more for spring...

I can't believe you are wearing them in that picture. I swear it looks like bare legs! I think I will look for skin tone micro-fishnets because my legs could use some 'even-ing out' in the tone department and sometimes you just want something on your legs. Thanks again!

Your welcome for the link ladies! I hope you find yourself a pair of the microfishnets. Very comfy!

Shoediva, I have slightly wide feet and usually wear a 7.5 (although sometimes I need to size up or down depending on the shoe). BR says on their website that you should order a half size smaller than what you normally wear for that style. Having said, that I bought a 7.5. While I was there I also tried on two shoes in a 7.5 that had said on the website to order your usual size. Both fit perfectly. So, long story short, I'd wait for your usual size and ignore whatever BR says, lol! Do you have a BR near you? You could always try them on in store first and then order them on ebay. If it helps, I don't find them tight on my feet, and they never rub blisters.

Buffycan, love how you incorporated the scarf! I saw a vendor in the mall today that was selling pretty nice pashminas for $6.5, but I just never wear scarves. I'll try, but then I won't like it and I'll take it off. Yours looks great though!

Thanks, Seipres, I stopped into BR when I was at the mall a few weekends ago, but they didn't have that one in stock. Maybe BR will have them next time I'm there.
Buffycan, I like your casual outfit.

buffycan - it looks like spring has reached you! The outfit is springy and fresh (great scarf - I saw it closer up on another thread).

purdue, I like the ensemble. It reminds me of 'country club' so I think it was perfect for your philanthropy event. I think it would be great with heels too!

thank you, ladies! Smile
when the gladiators first came out i put the thought out of my mind, i liked them, but i didn't think they'd work. then i noticed (the past few months) that as long as the skirt/dresses/shorts were ABOVE the knee they don't ruin the leg line. so if any of you have been wondering about them don't be afraid of trying them out!
zee, black top/white bottom is my favorite way to do black and white, and it screams 70s to me. when Jackie O wore her black buttondowns, white wide leg pants, a scarf around the head and big ol' sunglasses i thought it was the most beautiful ensemble on the face of the earth~
