HSM22 - Your hair is amazing! It is intricate but youthful. The butterflies are the perfect finishing touch. Tell me you did not style that yourself. I am so glad that you were well enough to have your big night out. I hope it was fabulous!

holy **** HSM, you look incredible! WOW~! That top and skirt look like a sophisticated, elegant dress when put together, and are offset beautifully by the pashmina. Heh, I guess that's another vote for "pics please." It looks SO much better with the brown top--I'll admit I couldn't visualize just how good. And OMG that gorgeous HAIR!!! Just got my internet connection back (stupid ISP wanted money), so I just got to see the outcome, and WOW, what an awesome result!
shoediva--great costume! I didn't wear one yet this year. I'm officially postponing Halloween.
Ili--thank you for sharing the foundation behind your awesome looks. I wish my cozy could do for me what that dress does for you. Actually, it's just now that I completely grasp "The Pres Method." It's not just the pieces in the outfit that make it perfect--it's the whole vibe.
I haven't been out of jeans and tees due to work and sheer exhaustion, and I don't think anyone is interested in those; I know I'm not. I did, however, struggle with my Target cozy knock-off for a bit, so pics are coming.

Argh...server error deleted my last message. This after my ISP was down for a week. In short:
HSM--I'll say it again: you look absolutely amazing. Love the brown, offset by the pashmina...and that gorgeous, intricate hair!
shoediva--love the costume! I'm partial to masks in general. You look great.
ili--thank you for sharing the foundation of your beautiful outfits and looks. I'm understanding more and more now--it's not just about the pieces, it's about the whole vibe.
I've been in jeans and tees for work and from sheer exhaustion. I don't think anyone wants to see those; I know I don't, lol! I did get a chance to play with my cozy a bit more, though, and I should have pics soon.

i was out of town for a few days and missed a lot of the fun. HSM the brown was the one i would have voted for, i like the contrast with your skintone and the neckline. shoedivaL OMGosh, are you kiddin' me?! Betty Draper?! sooo fabbbulous! i bet you were a HIT~ i've been sitting biting my fingernails wanting so much to watch the epis but i hateth waiting week to week so this time around i've been tivo-ing them so i can have several days of daytime MM marathons, heh heh, likely with a vodka something and salami and cheese because well, you know~ it's all about atmosphere. the dress i'm wearing on the photo is from Zara. man, i love that store. a lined wool dress. i also have it as a skirt (skirt with the same sash-type belt attached to it). i could have worn it last week but this week? unseasonably warm. LC, that was the likely one of the most important things i learned about 2 years ago, i always wondered why i could sort of copy a look but it never looked 'right'. i used to think it was my shape, being short or busty, but then i realized that it was the whole package and i was only concentrating on the clothes part: not the accesories, not the haircut or the little incidentals (even nailcolor) that support whatever look it is you're going after. ironically i learned that lesson from watching nicole ritchie, who could wear tailored clothing with big sunglasses and a bob haircut with side bangs and then go for the earthy long haired maxi wearing 1970s socialite look. all of a sudden it was like: aha! it's the hair and the accesories! ;p here's today's look for errands, a Zara top and Jcrew skirt: http://i121.photobucket.com/al...ensembles/019-12.jpg

(thank you for the idea) i loveth the gray dress with the brown belt/boots, the combination of neutrals is fab.

LOL, I didn't wear the mask...it's a "decoration" in photobucket, and I just put it on so I don't get in trouble with the moderator. But maybe next time I will wear a mask! Cheryle, I LOVE all those! You look so beautiful, and those boots are just YUMMY. Ilibaby, you look so classic, yet fierce. I just love your new hair!

ohhh thank you shoediva~ i keep 'trying' to grow it out (next look will be vidal sassoon's 1970s wedge cut AKA 'the dorothy hamill') but i love it so much i sit in my stylist's chair and say: 'i'm not ready'. ;p chop chop chop. it looks like that will be spring/summer 2010! *g* today i'm wearing another Zara thing to run some errands. (the tweed skirt). mann i love all the stuff i bought over there. http://i121.photobucket.com/al...nsembles/007-5-1.jpg

Ili, I'm also considering a wedge cut! I had that cut back in the day (when everyone else did too) and I loved it. But I'll have to work up the nerve to go a bit shorter. My current style is a short bob with side-swept bangs, and it's getting a bit boring. So grow yours out, post a photo looking chic and wonderful in a wedge cut, and that will be my incentive to take the plunge!

LOL crystalle~ did you love it and did it look good on you? go for it! that's the same reason why i started looking at (and getting) retro hairstyles, i kept seeing my cut everywhere, plus i wanted a change from my 'safe' look. (we all seem to have one, huh?) i had long caramel highlighted hair and when i saw victoria beckham's short black pixie it was like...whoa~gotta have it. if i can get this to grow (apparently i'm not ready to let go) i never change my hair prematurely to avoid disappointment if it doesn't work out. i jump in when i'm ready to pay whatever consequence. this is http://z.about.com/d/figureska...0/o/W/-/-/wedge9.jpg

This is my first time to post a photo - I hope I get it right! I posted a note about some jewelry I bought at Target over the weekend in the other topic (what is it - in the know, or something?). Anyway, this is me wearing the necklace today with my black corduroy blazer and a green shirt. I got a lot of compliments on the necklace, and on the fact that the green went well with my hair color. Thanks for posting the Dorothy Hamill photo! Now I'm getting that "gotta have it" feeling! The bob is definitely my safe - and signature - look. But I may be ready for a change. I can see why you're not yet ready to grow out your pixie. It's a great look for you and really complements your style!

Go figure. Last night I planned my outfit for today -- charcoal grey tweed pencil skirt (almost a salt/pepper), white blouse with sleeves turned up, 2 necklaces that are blue/black/silver (one is long and has open loops and beads; the other is shorter with 3 strands of different beads in similar colors), and black pumps. As I was walking out the door this morning, I grabbed a 3/4 sleeve plaid jacket that is blue/black/white (not exactly the same blue as the necklaces) to wear going to/from the car. I was afraid that the texture/pattern of the jacket really didn't go with the skirt, but put it on anyway. I've had more compliments on this getup since I got here! I actually decided to keep the jacket on since it is so popular! Just shows that it doesn't hurt to experiment! I tried to get a picture before work, but that didn't work out. I'll try again later.

Augh! It's Return-of-the Hamill Wedge!!! Sorry, it's a great look on adults... really it is! My mom forced me to wear that style from the time I was 6, until I was 16 though and I do NOT think it looks good on me! Or rather... it never looked good on me as a child. Might explain why I'm so vehement about my long hair now! Anyway, back to the here-and-now... Cheryle - I LOVE your outfits! Especially the pretty grey dress, and the black skirt/magenta top. You always look awesome! Ili - you look AWESOME in the highwaisted skirts How cool! and Tennessee girl, that necklace is wonderful! I especially like it with that green shirt... and that RADIANT smile!

HSM i was forced to wear whatever my mom said for the longest time. (about the same age as you, maybe even longer and i bought my own stuff). i had to wear clothes that made me look like a kid and for Years i had to deal with that. (i understand the rebellion thing, trust me). it was embarassing, humiliating at school. i was 40 before i let go of all that baggage. ((hug))

oh hon, thank you~ (water under the bridge after decades) but this is why i like to empower the women on the board to go for new and exciting things, break the mold and do what They want to do if they have an itch to break away. it can take a lonnng time to get over old scars, and in a way you become a champion for those who are afraid to try things or want to dress for someone else. ((thank you))

Aww, I'm so sorry you went through this too Ili! My mom chose my clothes until I started buying them myself too. (sigh) She STILL doesn't like a thing I wear, but at least now her cries are all "too LONG!" rather than "too BLACK!"
The hair... I'm considering a bit of a chop. It's a really long story and I'm not ready quite yet, but I'm giving serious consideration to taking it from past-tailbone up to waist-length. And for once, irking my mom DOESN'T have anything to do with the decision!

HSM, I know you look lovely with long hair, but as long as you're considering a cut, I think you would have many more styling options if you went with b*st length hair, rather than waist length...doesnt seem like that much of a difference between waist and tailbone...Just a thought...

Here is a picture of my outfit from today. A co-worker took the picture late today, so I'm afraid that the skirt doesn't look as fresh as it did when I left for work! I really love my blue/black necklaces (it's hard to see the short one because it is within the shirt collar). They came from NY and Co., and so did the skirt.Work outfit - Nov. 5

Ili, with your small even features, you can wear any hair style but I much prefer the new VB messy do to the dorothy.
Tennessee girl, that is a great necklace and should work with a lot of looks.
Shoediva, you hit this one out of the park. I love the color of the jacket for you and the fit is great. The black tights and skirt give you that long lean legline that works so well.

A lot of catching up to do. It's been a busy week. I haven't been online at all. Miltonia you rock scarves and I adore your sunday outfit (posted back on 10/26) Ili, I'm with miltonia, and jealous of the warm weather. You look great. I looooove your colder weather outfit 10/28 and only wish I could wear skirts - as it is I won't wear less than boots (any sort of shoe or unlined boot and my feet are cold) - I could only wear heavy tights with skirts right now and a full length coat. Bare legs, yeah. HSM you and your hubby are gorgeous! Cheryle I couldn't see any of your links okay the first ones, the second post I got and I have probably already said this, but you are made for dresses and skirts, comparing to pants you look so tall and lean in them. I am the opposite, but maybe that's what you're good at styling, as i am with jeans. I do like the necklace too tennessee. Congrats on your first pic post! You'll be hooked soon. Zee you are gorgeous. I like the rest of your outfit (don't do tights that look like this) (I hope my tights aren't too bold!) Diva, love it! That's a jacket, right? (teal, 10/05) In any case, it highlights your figure and the colour is gorgeous! WIWT it feels like spring!Work purple blazer. Love this blazer so much. It fits great and it's purple. It is the same as my red one, but of course as I love purple and it is an amazing jacket, I got the purple when I saw it later. A comfortable travelling outfitAnother new favourite. I've been tempted to go back and get this blouse in more colours - every H&M I go to has more and more colours and it fits so well - but I have kept myself from buying too many of the same thing. I do have it in an amazing blue too - which was the first one I bought, but again "had to have the purple" To the dentistWork this week - putting a few of my favourite things together - vest and blouse, the one pair of dress pants that fit pretty well, and my bold red necklace.

good to see you, girl! my fave were the purple blazer, dentist and menswear inspired looks. great job, you look like a tall glass of water btw. shoediva girlie how are you? that black skirt hits you right on~i bet you're wearing that baby often this season. cheryle thank you for your honest feedback/post about the hair, i really appreciate it. that new VB look is fabulous, it's been on my mind since i saw the photo you're referring to. the good thing about things is that since the DH hair is longer than what i have now, if it doesn't work out, i can always tell my stylist to cut it right back or adapt it to the VB!(oh the freedom and bliss of having a great girl doing one's hair, i never would have tried this with my former). here's what i wore yesterday to church for the cooler morning http://i121.photobucket.com/al...ensembles/018-10.jpgthen switched for lighter colors/fabric for the warm afternoon and sunday dinner at my sister's: http://i121.photobucket.com/al...nsembles/009-5-1.jpgi can't believe how much i'm getting into neutrals this fall/winter. i am not wearing any 'color', not even teal (which i have and is on trend), my guess is by the time february comes around i'll be wearing yellow and green head to toe.

ili, you are stunning in those pencil skirts and high collars. Love the shoes. And the skinny jeans. I think that you are an inspiration for overcoming obstacles--not just those involving fashion--and for helping others do the same.
AJ, left ya comments. I'm also in love with teh purple blazer. You know I love your style, your edge and your creativity.
Shoediva, my goodness, you look sharp in velvet teal. Love the outfit. Someone else said that it's right on and I whole-heartedly agree.
TG1, can't say enough about your smile! I also think that you're right about the teal plaid over tweed. It looks excellent. I hope that you'll post more outfits--both planned ones and happy accidents!
cheryleb, you really do rock the boots and leggings. My favorite is the Oct. 26 pencil skirt and bright raspberry top. And you know I love your gray dresses.
I don't know a whole lot about hair. I've only recently found a stylist with whom I feel comfortable, and then it dawned on me how much better I feel about myself with properly styled hair. I got it cut again a little shorter this week, and I'm back to my "red-on-the-head" comfort zone (instead of the 2", mousy roots on either side).
The nice thing about quitting the job is that I no longer have an excuse for hiding under a bright orange Ferrari hat.
Although I think I'm regressing--I badly want a fedora.

Amethyst, I actually really like the denim jumper/plaid tights outfit. It's really cute! But that last one, are you KIDDING ME? Wowza, you are on fire, lady! LOVE that magenta top Buffy, I have been wondering about Siepres, too. I really miss her! I know that she was making a move to NC, so I'm guessing she's just a busy bee. Buffycan and Shoediva, thanks for asking about me! I haven't been here much because of moving. Shortly after my last post, I went into house-hunting overdrive and made many, many trips back and forth between MD and NC looking for a house. After finally finding one, there was only a month to get the old house packed and moved to the new one. AND, then after the move, my NC family decided that the new house should be christened with Thanksgiving dinner. So, I had about 2 months to unpack and set up an entire house. I have missed many of you ladies and the fun we share. I have popped my head in now and then, but I just haven't had time to really give a good response. Things are starting to slow down though, so I hope to be posting here more frequently in the future. Everyone is looking beautiful here. Shoediva, that Jcrew skirt you got off Ebay still is quite a stunner! Here's one of my favorite newer outfits. After looking for purple tights all last year, I finally found some this year: http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn...a41a18200bb99186.jpg
