Hi all. I just bought these nine west shoes. I needed brown shoes for both pants and skirts. Do you think these are appropriate for both or just pants? Brown Shoes
For a skirt, they would require a heavy fabric (like a boucle, or a heavy wool tweed). And, as moobug says, opaque tights. They would not support a floaty A-line with sheer stockings. Which skirt do you have in mind? They don't go with the Ebay suit; too lightweight.
Also, the cut is very high. How do they look on your foot without the pants leg to create a line?
I have two skirts I was thinking of wearing them with - one is a chocolate brown microfibre or faux suede and the other is a tweedy fabric with brown, cream, and soft pink. I always wear tights as it is very cold here in the winter.
Speaking of the e-bay suit, I got it back from the seamstress last Monday and she did a great job on it. I was thinking about wearing the cami and skirt with a soft white silk blouse under the cami and a skinny belt over top to give it that jumper look in a way that works for my hourglass shape (those shapeless jumpers would not work on me). I could put a cardigan or soft jacket with it too. I was thinking of a plain black pump or maybe red with the suit.
Sounds like exactly the skirts that would work with those shoes. Does the shoe swallow your whole foot up to the ankle? That's the part that worrying me.
I have long legs and feet so I don't worry too much about elongating the leg. I also have pretty thin ankles so the whole foot being covered isn't a problem. Sometimes the prehensile feet come in handy. LOL
I also have a pair of deep teal peep toes that I could wear with the suit. I bought a teal belt too so with the right blouse (I'm thinking soft white or cream silk with poet sleeves), it could really work.

Personally, I'm not a fan of those shoes at all. The square toebox lacks elegance and the faux alligator embossing, looks, well, fake. The brass hardware/detailing across the instep further emphasizes the width of the shoe--I believe a woman's foot looks better when its long and dainty, not short and wide. I recommend sticking with a regular calfskin pair for everyday use.
I agree with pomo. They're sort of stompy-clompy. They may be fine with very tailored, classic trousers, but I think you'll be hard pressed to find a skirt to wear them with and not look dowdy.
You usually have really great taste and a good eye; these are not the best thing you've picked, cheryleb.
