I'm a newbie (my first post) and I have a huge dilemma. My college graduation is on Saturday evening, and I need some help with what to wear under my gown. My shape is an M and I am 5'1". My main problem is that it is going to be 5 degrees outside, so I need something that I won't freeze in, but I don't know if pants look right under my gown.
If it helps, I am graduating from a small college and our ceremony is in the college chapel. I need something that I can wear out to dinner and drinks after the ceremony.
I think pants look fine under a graduation gown, but if you add a wool dress and tights, they will also keep you warm. Here's what I'd like to wear to our school's night before graduation coctail party, which will be the first weekend in May (although I'm sure I'll change my mind by then, lol): http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=4986553 If you added some tights to that, you'd have a pretty warm outfit.
Right now, I am looking at a black (fitted) sweater dress with a skinny black patent belt. I want to add some tights for warmth (maybe black pattern, not sure yet).
Black, knee high boots are also a good idea, though. I will have to try those on with the dress just to see. I had thought about trying my red pumps with it, just to see. Still unsure about the shoes if I decide on the dress.
The nice thing about this dress is that I can wear it to teach (maybe paired with a cardigan) or I can dress it up for a night out.
Of course, I am still open to any ideas or suggestions. At least now I have a direction for what I think I want, I just need to put some stuff together to see if the dress works.
