I don't consider myself a very daring dresser. I don't think I stand out too much nor do I jump on every trend that comes along. But since participating here (since last January, I think. My ID is from years ago when I first joined and then promptly forgot about it), reading other "regular people" fashion blogs, and just paying a little more attention to things, I've found myself trying things I'd never have thought of attempting before. For example, today I'm wearing a magenta cami and an orange necklace. Previously, I'd never have considered putting those two colors together, but I like how it turned out.

Some things may not work, but the point is that I'm looking at and trying new ideas rather than not experimenting at all.

What things have you now dared to do that have worked (or not worked, for that matter)?

Hmmm... I'm not a very daring person, but lately I've "dared" to TRY on all sorts of styles & colors I would have never considered even 6 months ago.

A few things I've discovered are that v-necks look good on me, crossover v-necks do NOT "fall off" like I would have thought & do in fact look VERY nice, and... I don't look like a senior citizen in a tailored jacket - but actually like how it looks! (haven't picked one up yet, but I'm saving!)

I've never owned a piece of animal print, in clothing or accessories. They seemed too "wild" for me, and "old lady" patterns. Now i have a pair of leopard print flats, and a b/w giraffe print blouse. I really love the giraffe, it's become one of my favorites.

It took me a LOOOONG time to wear jackets that didn't cover my derriere. For me, THAT was a big leap of faith.

I ventured into the world of scarves last spring. I loved it. I would like to get some for fall. I never thought about wearing them except for winter b/c I always freeze. Now I can wear them more often, once I get more. =)

Wow - I didn't realize how boring I was until today. I read this thread hours ago and still haven't thought of a single thing. Big earrings, I guess. But I live on Long Island, so that's like "I breath air". Maybe I'll make a scavenger hunt for myself out of this thread - so far I need to get giraffe shoes and a scarf (an indoor scarf, I wear outdoor scarves).

This year, I have "dared" to dress with a bit more feminine flair than I have in the past. I'm not particularly girly, and I'm more of an earth mother type, but I've been enjoying wearing things like ruffles and re-discovering jewelry. Smile I think a lot of it has to do with the fresh start I got from moving to a different climate, having a baby, going back to work, and turning 30 this summer. I no longer feel like I'm "the kid" at work, necessarily, and I don't work in quite the same male-dominated environment I used to. (However, I discovered that one of my coworkers thought I was 25 and was surprised to learn I'm 30. Ha!)
