Why doesn't Amy make the kids pick up after themselves? Their rooms are piled full of clothes and the house never looks organized. junk all over. Come on folks get those kids to pick up things.

I'm an Amy defender but she's not preparing the kids for real life by not teaching them basic life skills.

Yes, I tend to defend her also if only for the reason that the kids are obviously not just "HER" kids..who with logic would buy into that one? Introducing chores to kids -by parents..that would be plural--earlier than these kids got it would have been more desirable; however, they seem to know how to clean up when it's a pressing matter. And so be it.

All the years Matt had to travel for work did make Amy THE parent. She is the one responsible for not teaching the kids while they were young enough to pick up lifelong life skills.

I know he did travel for work ....I don't know how much or for how long (only they would know that) ....and I don't think it's an issue anyway since both of them have said Matt is not the sort of person who can tell a kid...especially a teen...what to do. So if he'd been home every second, apparently all the 'heavy' chores of such would have fallen on Amy anyway. That's bad enuff, without me bashing her on how she makes a sandwich. Sure..they could have been prompted into chores earlier in life...they weren't...so be it.

i don't care if Amy ever cleans her house. It's her house and if anyone else who lives there wants it clean they can do it themselves. My only concern is the kids having skills to live on their own. The reason it bugs me is that a friend from school was in the same boat as the Roloff kids because according to her mom it was the mom's job to clean and cook. Period. Well when mom broke an ankle and had to stay at the hospital for a week (really bad break) the kids didn't know how to fix a meal, use the vacuum or do laundry. It was awful.

I don't care if she ever does either.
It's a tv show, and not my concern.
I was glad to see the kids last season housekeeping while Matt and Amy were away, and for them to come home to a neat house. I'm not worried about them finding food or pushing a broom..I think they all could manage, if they had to.

Has this subject not been done to death? It is what it is. Their house. Aren't there any new ideas?

You have one parent, Matt, that wants the children to clean, and the other, Amy, who doesn't want them to clean. So, when you have one parent battling the other parent, the kids are going to do nothing. So, this is just another case of Matt and Amy not being on the same page.
