I'm trying to watch Property Ladder and had to turn it off...couldn't take it any more. I have a 3 and 5 year old daughter and son. On property ladder this morning (10 am cst) I heard the words, "ass", "hell (several times)", and "bastard." How can television executives think this is OK and will not drive away normal folks? Also, how do these words add value to a property TV show? My desire to rid my household completely of TV is getting closer and closer to reality when I have to endure swear words on Saturday morning property shows...
I totally agree with Peter. I am watching property ladder right now and Minsu just said GD twice. What is wrong with the producers? You are offending Christian viewers everywhere and not just Chrisian viewers but anybody with morals! No more for me and my family! We're tuning TLC out!
While I agree with the need to clean up the language, the larger issue is the general disconnectedness of the shows. Is property ladder really a timely topic when millions of families are losing their homes? I'm also amazed that the still regularly broadcast the flip that house show! When are people going to get the message? The real estate greed frenzy was another Ponzi scheme, artificially driving up prices without a relationship to added value. Focusing on the language is like opening the window to remove the smoke in a house that is burning.
I really love the show and we put up with alot , but in my area east coast feb.21st. it went way past the low foul words and said the GD word ,, thats too much.
Perhaps you should only watch TV shows originally aired for evening time in the evening.
And the words listed as "swear words" aren't swear words in my book, just words. Some words are considered more polite than others, but geez, why do "ass" and "bastard" and "hell" hold such special meaning? One's an animal, another one's an antiquated, pretty much obsolete reference, and another one's a place if you believe in such a thing. Pretty much meaningless words. The more people use them, the less they mean. I think that's a good thing, whittling down those "bad" words.
I don't think using words like "ass" and "hell" detracts from the value of the show, but rather detracts from my opinion of the person using them, not because it offends me, but because I think one should be more mindful of one's audience when throwing around colorful language. So it shows a lack of a person's restraint and judgment, I think.
GD, however, is different. I'm no "Christian viewer" but I think that one is a swear word, and against the second commandment, and believe the commandments or not, is a line best not crossed.
You people are such prudes. I'm so sick of hearing people talk about so-called Christian values. Is a home improvement show something that would really interest a 3-year old and 5-year old anyway? If you're offended by the show, just stop watching it.
Most people are losing their homes because they were irresponsible and took out loans they couldn't afford. (Of course there are exceptions). I have no pity for people who were greedy and are now losing their homes. If you don't have 6 months of emergency funds in savings, you should not be buying a home!
I enjoy this show, and could care less if there is swearing or a bunch of greedy people are losing their homes.
