I've always enjoyed do-it-yourself shows, but before this crisis I questioned these flipping shows and now with the current crisis, they seem irrelevalent. Jon Stewart rips Jim Cramer and CNBC for glossing over the looming financial crisis, but what about TLC romanticizing making easy bucks over pricing properties.

I turned on the show Saturday, and here was a 23 year old woman, who had recently graduated, and was holding 2 jobs (waitress and bartender); had bought a 750 sq. ft. dump for $250K, was hoping to spend $10K, and profit $60-70K. She also stated that she didn't know how to change a light bulb. I don't know how it turned out, but it was an offensive story line. Did this woman also seek out TLC and Kristen to plaster her mug on TV. This is irresponsible at best, and possibly criminal. The banker that loaned her the money should be strung up, but why is TLC showing it.

People that are willing to roll up their sleeves to learn skills to help themselves, that's the American way; but we've turned into "where's my 15 minutes of fame". Maybe we should move the series to Comedy Central, then we'd know not to take it serious. Mad

I dunno, I think that episodes that show the hardships that these inexperienced people endure is educational. I mean, if you're someone who is inexperienced and considering getting into the flip-biz some of these episodes can be an eye opener. That is if the person has the maturity to recognize the lessons being offered. I don't know how folks get featured on the show, I suppose there's an application. But don't forget that this is TV and the applications would also be considered for their entertainment value as well. Also, why should the banker be strung up? That person obviously had the credit and security required to get the loan. The banker is just that...a banker, not a life manager. When you're old enough to make your own decisions, you're also old enough to deal with the consequences. You're talking about that girl's possible mistakes somehow being the responsibility of the banker and the network. You say that it's offensive, irresponsible and possibly criminal and I say that is a load of owl poop. We are all responsible for our own actions. It's part of being an adult, don't be foolish.
